Superphosphate properties
During growth, flowering and fruiting, all crops require a large amount of nutrients, incl. and phosphorus. With its deficiency, the development of plants stops, the leaves acquire a bluish tint, and then fall off. Therefore, it is important to periodically add superphosphate to the soil - a mineral fertilizer, the main substance of which is phosphorus oxide. The substance is well soluble in water, so it is convenient to use it for root and foliar dressing. The amount of phosphorus in the composition can vary from 20 to 50%.
Experts distinguish between several types of this fertilizer:
- Monophosphate. It is produced in the form of a white powder containing 25% phosphorus oxide. It is practically insoluble in water and has little effectiveness compared to other drugs. The advantages of monophosphate are low cost and long shelf life.
- Double superphosphate. It has an increased phosphorus content (about 45%). In addition, during production, fertilizer is enriched with additional trace elements: calcium sulfate, phosphates of monomagnesium, iron and aluminum. Like monophosphate, it has little effectiveness.
- Granulated. This chemical has a long duration of action. It contains 50% phosphorus and 30% calcium sulfate. Thanks to the use of this tool, the quality of the soil composition is greatly improved.
- Ammoniated. It contains 55% potassium sulfate and 12% sulfur. The chemical is highly soluble in liquid. It is most often used for growing oilseeds.
Any type of product can be used to fertilize the soil at a summer cottage. Experts recommend using granular because of its high efficiency and relatively low price.
Application methods
Before use, the composition should be properly diluted in water, since nutrients in liquid form are much better absorbed by plants.
To dissolve the product as quickly as possible, it is better to take boiling water. It will take about 3 liters. It is necessary to pour 20 tbsp into this amount of liquid. l. superphosphate and stir thoroughly. Granules do not dissolve completely immediately, so the liquid must be placed in a warm place and periodically stirred with a wooden spatula.
After 24 hours, the product will be ready for use. However, the substance cannot be used in its pure form. For watering, it should be diluted with clean water in a proportion of 150 ml per 10 liters of liquid. In addition, it is necessary to enrich the nutrient solution - add 20 ml of nitrogen mixture and 0.5 kg of sifted ash powder to each bucket.
The resulting product is required to process all berry, vegetable and fruit plantings, as well as flower beds.
When watering, it is important to remember that an excess of phosphorus can negatively affect the condition of the plants. Therefore, the dosage of superphosphate should be observed. It has been experimentally found that for watering seedlings and green crops, about 40 g of fertilizer per 1 sq. m. 20 g is enough for processing root crops. To feed the potatoes, you need to add 4 g of the product to each well. Vegetables that are grown in greenhouses require more nutrients, so approximately 80 g per 1 sq. m.
For adult fruit trees, you can take 35 g of the drug for each specimen. For berry bushes, 2 tbsp is enough. l. composition for each bush.
