The process of making apple compote
It is important to follow all stages of compote preparation, choose the right fruits and make syrup. Operating procedure:
- We prepare the apples: wash them thoroughly, peel them, remove the core.
- Rinse the apples in saline and cover with a towel so that the fruits do not darken while cooking in syrup.
- Cooking sugar syrup in proportions of 250 g of sugar per liter of water, boil until the last crystals dissolve.
- We put the apples in three-liter jars, filling them by two-thirds, fill them with syrup. Apples are laid out in a jar whole, no need to cut.
- Add spices to taste: cinnamon, anise, mint or lemon balm. Spices will add a special flavor to the compote and add vitamins.
- Roll up the jars with lids, turn over, wrap them with a blanket, let cool.
Such a compote is infused for several days, you can store the jar in the basement or cellar, as long as the place is dark and cool. To make the compote have a brighter color, you can add chokeberries, currants or lingonberries to it. Blue grapes are also suitable for this purpose.
Tips for preparing compote
It is important to choose large, ripe and healthy fruits without damage, not beaten or bitten by insects - only such fruits can make a delicious compote. Also suitable for cooking compote are such varieties as Ranetki, White filling, Grushovka or Kitayka. There are three ways to preserve apples for compote:
- sterilization - boiling a jar of apples for half an hour;
- pasteurization at a temperature of 90 degrees for an hour;
- bay with boiling water, from which uzvar is then prepared.
