Sometimes it happens that you hear, for example, a new recipe, come home with it, cook it, as expected, and the taste of the dish comes out completely different from what you would like to receive. However, today I will tell you this method of preparing a snack, which you can safely share later with friends or acquaintances. After all, she always turns out to be simply gorgeous.

The recipe is called “Provencal”. This is a classic version of pickled cabbage, where in 4-5 hours you get a delicious snack for a homemade dinner. A fragrant, spicy and crunchy dish will bring true delight to your whole family at any time of the year.
This appetizer, in addition to the main ingredient, also consists of carrots and bell peppers. For spiciness, garlic is also added to it, and any spices that are most loved in your home can be put in the marinade. For example, I add Provencal herbs and coriander. It turns out very tasty.
Cabbage "Provencal" with carrots and peppers
Required products: - cabbage - 1 kg, - Bulgarian pepper (salad) - 2 pcs., - carrots - one, - garlic cloves - two, - water - 125 ml, - vinegar essence - 5 ml, - sugar - two tables. spoons - salt - one table. spoon - vegetable oil - 75 ml.
Cooking method
- We wash the cabbage and remove the top and bad leaves from it. We cut the head of cabbage in half and chop it into small and beautiful straws.
- We clean the carrots and rub them on a fine grater. Then we peel the cloves of garlic and pass them through a press. You can also cut the garlic into neat slices.
- My bell pepper. We cut it in half, remove the stem and seeds. Then chop the pepper into thin strips.
- Next, you need to prepare the marinade. Pour cold (but already boiled) water into a separate saucepan, pour salt and sugar into it, then pour the essence and vegetable oil. And stir everything thoroughly.
- Now we put the vegetables into another pan (or some other pot), fill them with marinade and mix everything well again.
- Next, put a flat saucer on the cabbage, and put a jar of water on it (this is a kind of load). We place the entire resulting structure in the refrigerator (or in another cool place) for 4 or 5 hours.
- Then you can take out the snack, remove the load from it and taste the dish.
Useful Tips
- Hard and crunchy white cabbage of some late varieties works well for this recipe.
- Before shredding, carrots should be soaked for several hours in cold water. This will add juiciness to it.
- Bell peppers are best used in different colors. Then your appetizer will look even brighter and truly festive.
