Ingredients for making pear jam

  • 1 kg of ripe resilient pears (overripe fruits will not work);
  • 1 kg of granulated sugar;
  • about 1 glass of water.

Guide to Making Pear Sliced Jam

  • Choosing pears. Since beautiful pear slices are an important part of our dessert, the choice of fruits must be approached responsibly. We need even, smooth, without signs of rot, not overripe, dense, elastic, fragrant.
  • After you have chosen the best fruits, they need to be washed, peeled and cut into slices of medium thickness. Try to keep them the same size.
  • Pour about 200 ml of water into a cooking container, add all the granulated sugar into it. Put on fire and, stirring constantly, prepare sugar syrup.
  • When the syrup begins to cast amber, immediately remove it from the heat. Watch carefully, it is important to stop the heating process in time, otherwise the color of the future jam may suffer.
  • Now, so that the slices retain their elasticity and shape, let the syrup cool slightly. And only after that add pear pieces into the dishes. Stir well so that all the fruits are completely covered in the sugar syrup.
  • Place the pot on the slowest heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes. Then remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
  • Repeat the procedure one or two more times. When the pear slices have become transparent, the jam is ready.
  • If the jam seems too liquid to you, you can boil it again. Just keep in mind that the finished cooled product will thicken a little already.
  • When the jam has reached the desired consistency and color, leave it to cool at room temperature. After cooling down, place in a prepared container, seal and store.
