Good afternoon, my reader. Raspberry - a shrub available to many gardeners. Everyone knows that it has a long winding rhizome with many adventitious roots. From them comes the growth, which then forms new shoots. If they are not removed in time, then soon it will grow into a real raspberry bush, taking away many useful substances from other plants and spreading almost uncontrollably.

Its shoots can grow through the fence, overcome other obstacles - crawl under the greenhouse, the shoot may appear in a garden bed next to a raspberry tree or "look" to other shrubs planted nearby. Experienced gardeners know that the fight against such a raspberry attack does not always end in favor of a person. Therefore, we found the right effective way - the planting of those crops, the neighborhood with which they simply do not tolerate.

This is due to the structure of the roots. Raspberries are losing the fight for water and nutrients to their competitors.

SORREL

This perennial plant has a long, branched root. Thanks to this feature, it can stop the growth of raspberries. "Kislinka" releases substances that prevent the formation of the root system of the shrub. Plant it around the perimeter of the raspberry bushes.

But keep in mind that sorrel itself is considered an unpretentious crop and is prone to overgrowth. Therefore, you run the risk of already having thickets of it after a while. It is also necessary to ensure that the peduncles of the sorrel are cut off in a timely manner, otherwise it will "launch its tentacles" to other parts of the garden. Plant it in a thin strip and watch it grow. Then the benefits will be from both cultures. After all, sorrel is known for its beneficial properties - its leaves are rich in carotene and ascorbic acid.

BEANS

Not scientifically proven, but some summer residents noticed that raspberries do not like to coexist with asparagus and grain beans. And the thing is that nodule bacteria live on the roots of the beans, which saturate the soil with nitrogen. It is nitrogen fertilization that is considered very effective in combating the growth of raspberries. Plant beans along the raspberry tree in the spring. The period of its growth is accompanied by active release of nitrogen. This will scare off raspberries, striving to start up their long roots with the first rays of the spring sun and form shoots.

Just keep in mind that beans are a sun-loving crop, and if you want to harvest a good harvest of raspberries and provide yourself with beans for the winter, make the neighborhood mutually beneficial.

METLITSA

Field annual cereal with a highly developed root system. This property will come in handy when curbing raspberry overgrowth. At first glance, this is a weed, and in truth, it has no place in the garden. But in our case, the neighborhood will fully justify itself. Growing well on its own, it prevents raspberries from doing the same.

A few more tips:

  1. Try to plant raspberries along the fence, the growth can go under the fence without disturbing the zoning of your garden area.
  2. Divide the raspberry tree from the rest of the area with a shallow trench. Raspberries will not like this - the roots will not find soft soil for further growth.
  3. Install barrier plates along the perimeter of the growth of shrubs, dig them in to a depth of 15-20 cm. It can be slate, sheet metal or corrugated board remaining from the construction site. Special border strips or plastic panels are also suitable.
  4. Prune the bushes in time: it is recommended to do this 2 times a year - in spring and autumn. Control raspberry growth throughout the season with a pruner or trimmer.
