Types of feeding

Fertilizing plants causes a process of active growth and long flowering.

There are two ways to do it:

  1. Basal - when the root of the flower itself is fertilized.
  2. Leafy - produced by spraying the vegetative part of the plant.

Features of feeding spathiphyllum

After you have planted "female happiness", the flower takes all the substances necessary for growth from the soil. Fertilizers are needed only when the soil in the pot becomes less and there is nowhere to scoop nutrients.

When to fertilize

Whether a flower needs feeding will be indicated by its appearance:

  • slow plant growth indicates a lack of magnesium;
  • instagram viewer
  • yellow leaves - complex feeding is needed, and if green streaks are also present, then the flower is sick, and it needs iron;
  • lack of flowering - there is not enough potassium and phosphorus, you need to change the drug.

It is not recommended to fertilize a plant if:

  • you transplanted him less than a month ago;
  • the flower is sick;
  • you bought it less than two months ago;
  • if the plant has diseased roots.
From spring to the very beginning of autumn, “female happiness” is enough to fertilize once a week, and if the plant looks good, then one additional feed in two weeks is enough. From mid-autumn to the beginning of winter, you need to feed it once every fifteen to twenty days. The rest of the winter months - once a month.

Top dressing at home

Spathiphyllum can be fertilized with natural means:

  • coffee grounds;
  • tea leaves;
  • dried banana peel, powdered. Or use a tincture. For this, the peel of one banana is poured with a liter of water, infused for a day, and then filtered. Water the plant with this infusion once every twelve days;
  • nettle tincture - poured with a liter of boiling water and infused for a day, before watering, 100 grams of infusion is diluted per liter of water;
  • milk whey - it is diluted with warm water one in ten;
  • succinic acid - one tablet dissolves in a liter of water.

Purchased fertilizers

If you still decide to use purchased fertilizers, dilute them with boiled water in the proportions indicated on the package. It is necessary to water at the root.

The most famous fertilizers for spathiphyllum are:

  • Bona Forte;
  • "Green house";
  • "Garden of Miracles";
  • Master.

Soil care

Spathiphyllum feels comfortable when the soil in the pot is wet. Therefore, the plant should not be allowed to dry out. You can only water the soil with fertilizers in advance, so as not to burn the roots. Then you need to water the flower again and loosen the ground. In order for the plant to bloom, it must be fed with potassium-phosphorus preparations and organic fertilizers.

Feeding "female happiness" is a must. The main thing is not to get too carried away. An excess of fertilizer can lead the plant to death. Regular watering and loosening of the soil is enough for a good flower.
