Good afternoon, my reader. Deciduous lianas are popular precisely because of their variety. Leaves can be pointed, oval and elongated. Their colors vary from dark green, light purple and to various variegated accents.

You don't need to be an experienced florist to successfully grow vines at home. But there are still varieties to start with if you have no experience with these flowers at all.

Common types of deciduous vines

Birch (cissus)

The unpretentious plant is closely related to the vine. The leaves are spiky, deep green, sometimes have a silver tint or pink on the inside. Shoots release whiskers that cling to ledges and supports. It grows rapidly in favorable conditions. In order for the birch to delight you with its lush leaves, pay attention to the following factors:

  • Good lighting with partial shading.
  • The plant is resistant to heat and cold, but it is better not to experiment with temperature changes.
  • Does not tolerate abundant watering, but likes frequent spraying of the crown.

Scindapsus

It has a definite plus - it can grow in almost any conditions. Its pot can be positioned above the window, in the corner, or almost anywhere. Leaves are medium in size, speckled with pale spots. Scindapsus grows quickly, the shoots entangle the supports or simply hang down. In order for the shoots to grow in different directions and get a lush crown, periodically the vine must be pinched. In order for the home vine to feel good, after the first year of life, keep it in a cool room.

Common ivy

They are often decorated with facades, windows, columns of gazebos and even walls of houses. The color of the leaves can be different - light green, rich dark green and with stains of varying degrees of pallor. Breeders still breed different varieties that have unusual leaf shapes and colors.

Like other climbing plants, ivy does not require complicated care, but you still need to follow three rules:

  • In active growth stages, water should be abundant.
  • In the spring and summer, special feeding for ornamental plants should be given.
  • In the fall, place the ivy pot on the sunny side.

Monstera

Perhaps the most common long and curly plant. It has spectacular, shiny leaves that are cut almost to the base of the stem. Monstera forms aerial roots with which it rises up the supports. If you take good care of it, it can grow up to three meters. In order for your monstera to develop well and grow quickly, pay attention to the following factors:

  • Aerial roots need to be placed in the soil so that the plant will get enough nutrients from it.
  • The supports for the monstera must be wrapped in moss, so that the aerial roots that are not in the soil will receive moisture.
  • Avoid direct sunlight.
