Good afternoon, my reader. Making a summer cottage takes a lot of time and effort, because you want the plants in the flower beds to bloom as long as possible. Unpretentious perennials with different flowering periods will help to solve this problem.

Where to begin

When starting to decorate the site, you should take care of future flower beds in advance. It is desirable that the soil in these areas be loose, fertile, with a neutral reaction. Do not expect beautiful flowers to grow on acidic or leached soil.

The choice of plants depends on the size of the site, the characteristics of the landscape, the location of the flower beds, the characteristics of the local climate and the wishes of the gardener.

Primroses

Garden work begins in early spring. To make the site look attractive at this time, perennial primroses are selected - they will change the picture, decorating the bare ground. Suitable for this: tulips, daffodils, muscari, hyacinths, etc.

These short flowers are best planted along garden paths. Or place them near shrubs, trees, where other plants will have little light. This neighborhood will not harm the bulbous plants, because they will have time to bloom even before the trees are covered with dense foliage.

Tall

This group includes flowers from 1 to 5 meters in height. The choice of a plant depends on its purpose.

Heliopsis

Double yellow chamomile flowers look spectacular in tapeworms and group plantings. The plant quickly grows to a height of 1.5 m in open areas with drained, fertile soil. Heliopsis, undemanding to moisture, blooms until frost.

Phlox

This perennial pleases with lush spherical inflorescences and a fragrant aroma. The plant, reaching a height of 1.2-1.5 m, is undemanding to the soil and hibernates without shelter. Good lighting, moderate watering, and loosening of the soil are enough for lush flowering.

Campsis

The perennial unpretentious liana is distinguished by its rapid growth up to 5-10 m. Its woody trunk with aerial roots requires strong support: it clings even to the walls of buildings. With an abundance of sunlight, Kampsis blooms all summer.

Medium-sized

Flowers of this group usually do not exceed 40-50 cm and are perfect for decorating flower beds in group or mixed plantings.

Turkish carnation

The plant with fragrant umbellate inflorescences of various colors reproduces well by self-seeding. It grows on any soil, wintering well.

Cornflower

The flower, undemanding to the conditions of care, easily gets along with neighboring cultures and blooms all summer. Looks great in a group or against other plants.

Pyrethrum

A spectacular plant with carved leaves, erect stems and chamomile-like flowers. Some types of pyrethrum have terry buds of various colors - from white to bright crimson.

Undersized

Compact perennials are often used in flower beds or to frame flower beds.

Anemone

Delicate buds of the unpretentious "anemone" are one of the first to open. It winters well and reproduces by dividing the bush, by seeds.

Erigeron

The compact bushes of the plant are decorated with blue flowers. The center of the buds, collected from needle-like petals, is crowned with a convex yellow core.

A special place among low-growing perennials is occupied by dwarf chrysanthemums and perennial asters (“santbrinki”). A wide selection of varieties and colors allows you to create garden compositions from them.

Perennial crops seem to be created in order to make it easier for summer residents to work. With their help, you can colorfully decorate the front lawn. Or "drape" a rickety fence, a dilapidated structure - the scope for the flight of imagination is not limited.
