This technique is successfully used not only in the southern regions, but also in central Russia. But not all crops are able to survive the winter in soil. Winter sowing rules

- Top covered beds are covered with a layer of mulch.
IMPORTANT! Crops planted before winter should not be watered. They get their first moisture from the melted snow.
Vegetable crops recommended for winter planting
For sowing in winter, seeds of cold-resistant varieties are used.
Garlic
The garlic planted in late autumn gives large heads with strong cloves. It is distinguished by its bright taste and aroma. The disadvantage of winter garlic is its short shelf life, but its attractive appearance will allow selling excess harvest in summer.
Summer residents with many years of experience advise planting garlic a month before the onset of stable frosts. This allows the cloves to gain a foothold in the soil, but they do not have time to germinate.
Planting dates from mid-September to late October. Depend solely on the climate of the region and seasonal weather.
Onion

Radish
Winter radish will give its first harvest in April. In the fruits of a culture planted in autumn, there is no bitterness, they are more resistant to diseases, and most importantly, the growth of winter radish occurs during the sleep period of the cruciferous flea - its main pest.
Having taken the first crop, there is time for planting early varieties. Sowing is carried out at the end of November. In the southern regions, it may be February. Popular winter varieties include:
- Liman;
- Sugar;
- Okhotsk;
- Dawn.
Beets and carrots
Sowing carrots and beets can be done in one day. The winter planting of these root crops gives a guarantee of a harvest, in contrast to the spring planting, when the seedlings die due to drought.
The disembarkation is carried out at the onset of a stable temperature from 0 to -3 ° C.

For winter sowing of carrots, the most often chosen are:
