The plant is unpretentious, and you don't really need to take special care of it, so many people breed it at home. Moreover, it blooms for a long time and constantly pleases the eye with inflorescences.

But there are times when the acquired plant, instead of flowering, begins to stretch upwards, but the flowers do not appear.

Reasons why the plant does not bloom

There can be several different reasons for this:

  • the flower does not have enough light, which is necessary for full growth, therefore, the vital energy of the plant is simply not enough for the formation of inflorescences;
  • instagram viewer
  • the plant has a flowering cycle, so suppliers try to send such plants for sale, flowering which they achieve by ordinary distillation, and because of this, it seems that the plant is blooming constantly;
  • flower suppliers, when sent for sale, plant them in temporary pots with a soil fertilization kit for two months, so at the end of this the plant simply has nothing to eat and no ovaries are formed, so after purchase you need to immediately transplant it into a permanent pot and feed it soil;
  • Kalanchoe is thermophilic, and a decrease in temperature below 20ºC can inhibit the formation of flower caps, therefore, at home in the place where the plant will be located, it is desirable that the air temperature is not lower 20-27ºC.

Plant care at home

First of all, having determined a suitable place for the plant at home and waiting for the end of the first flowering, you need:

  • remove all old peduncles, that is, wilted inflorescences and withered leaves;
  • excess shoots that have managed to form must be removed from the pot so that the impression of a sloppy and unkempt plant is not created;
  • having formed the bush you need, periodically pluck everything unnecessary so that its shape remains the same as you need;
  • when the plant fades, and usually this occurs in the spring, watering should be reduced so that the roots of the flower do not rot due to the abundance of excess moisture.

After the plant fades, all summer it needs to be fed 2 times a month and all excess should be cut off 30 days after the flowers wither. Young bushes are pinched at strong points of growth, and in adults, old stems are cut off.

Due to this, the Kalanchoe will not stretch up, and the number of buds before flowering will increase. In the middle lane, the plant begins to bloom when daylight hours decreases, that is, from about October, and blooms until March.

At the same time, it is desirable that the night temperature regime be kept at 20ºC, otherwise there will be a delay in flowering.

It must be remembered that the Kalanchoe is afraid of drafts and cold. Therefore, the place for the plant in the house should be warm and without cold air currents.

It is important for the plant to create the correct light regime. For good and stable flowering, daylight hours should not exceed eight hours. Excessive lighting can inhibit the growth of shoots and inflorescences. Shorter or longer daylight hours can lead to the fact that the Kalanchoe will not give flowers. Artificial light also affects the plant.

So keep track of how long the plant is in the dark and how long it is in the light, it is advisable to get beautiful flowers in your home interior.

By following all our recommendations, you will be able to admire the beautiful Kalanchoe bushes in your home during the eleven weeks of the autumn-spring period.
