  • Dec 13, 2020

Good afternoon, my reader. There are a lot of decorative annual lianas. Ornamental beans, morning glory, passionflower and many others are worth mentioning. They all have common features, namely:

  • these vines have long stems;
  • they have almost no lateral ramifications.

Plant such vines in places where it is convenient to dig up the soil often. Also, the landing site should be flat and sunny. Also, annuals should be transplanted every year and make sure that the seeds do not sprout in unnecessary places and do not drown out other plants.

In order for the vines to branch out and grow beautifully, take care of various props, supports and fences.

IMPORTANT! It is necessary to install such structures near the grown plant so as not to damage its root system.

It makes no sense to shelter such vines for the winter, but sanitary and aesthetic pruning is worth it.

The best perennial garden vines

Most often, perennials are grown in gardens, because they do not need to be repotted or replanted frequently. They take root quickly and live in one place for a long time. Consider the most popular and beautiful perennial vines.

Climbing roses

Gardeners love these vines for their long and abundant flowering. Plant these roses in well-lit areas and give them strong wooden supports to keep them from freezing in winter. Winter is a severe test for climbing roses, so their roots are insulated with sawdust, and the branches are covered with non-woven materials.

IMPORTANT! Climbing roses should be thinned every three years to allow new shoots to form.

Campsis

This liana stands out against the background of others with its flowers - they are similar in shape to the pipe of a gramophone. Campsis is frost-resistant, after winter it comes out of dormancy for a long time, but it blooms profusely all summer.

Campsis is an unpretentious and very tenacious vine. If for some reason the sprout has not taken root and has dried up, do not rush to dig it up and throw it away. It may well come to life, because adaptation after transplantation in these vines is also long.

Campsis has a strong root system, so plant it separately to prevent the vine from drowning out other plants. The bushes grow quickly, after 4-6 years they reach 10 meters, after which they begin to grow in width. This vine is heavy, so give it a sturdy wooden support. There is no need to trim the campsis, just make sure that the thickets of vines do not turn into impassable thickets.

Actinidia

A beautiful, powerful and not demanding vine. In spring, many green and succulent leaves are formed on it, in autumn they turn into a beautiful crimson, and in winter orange berries hang.

Actinidia grows in any soil, but requires good ambient lighting. Plants planted in the northern parts of the plots bloom later and, accordingly, later become foliated.

Pruning of this vine is carried out in two cases:

  • Cleaning dried flowers after flowering.
  • Shoots after leaf fall.

Wild grapes

Grapes are used for vertical gardening, because they quickly and aesthetically entwine surfaces with dense foliage. The grapes take root on any soil, the main thing is to make a strong support for it. In winter, the grapes throw off all the leaves, some shoots freeze, but in the spring many others will grow.
