There is even a superstition that if you present this plant at a wedding to young people, then they will live happily ever after.

Alpine

It is a very small plant with a long flowering period. In alpine compositions it is used as a ground cover plant. It has dark blue flowers.

Landing

The plant prefers well-drained, loose soil. A special soil is sold in the store, or you can make it yourself from sand, peat and foliage.

In open ground

Planting takes place in the spring, when the soil has already warmed up to 13 degrees. At a distance of 25-45 cm, pits with a depth of 15-20 cm should be made, it all depends on the size of the planting material.

Carefully remove the campanula from the container with the clod of earth and lower the flower into the recess exactly in the middle. Sprinkle it with earth on all sides, tamp and level it. Then pour warm water over.

Indoor conditions

After buying the plant in the store, you should put it in a place with diffused sunlight and leave it alone for a week to get used to it. After 7-10 days, you can start the transplant.

With its small growth, Campanula has a sufficiently developed root system. Therefore, you should choose a spacious pot for her.

Pour expanded clay at the bottom and fill the container by one third with nutritious soil. Carefully remove the well-spilled plant from the store container without shaking off the roots, and place it in the pot in the center cavity. Cover it with earth and compact it. And then water the plant well and put it in its original place.

Care

In general, Campanula is an unpretentious plant. But he also needs care.

Watering

In the summer, in hot weather, the plant should be watered daily in small portions. And in winter, Campanula should only be sprayed occasionally.

Temperature

The flower does not tolerate extreme heat and in summer it will have an acceptable temperature of 22-24 degrees, and in winter from 10 to 13.

Weeding

Both outdoor and indoor flowers will not tolerate weeds. Therefore, they should be constantly weeded and loosened around the soil.

Pruning

The plant requires pruning 2 times a year. In the fall and spring, too thin, thin and thick processes should be removed. The latter can be used for cuttings, provided they are in good condition.

As already mentioned, the plant has a well-developed root system, and it quickly depletes the soil. Therefore, the nutrient soil should be changed once a year.

Preparing for winter

Before the onset of the cold period, the plant stops blooming. Elongated shoots are removed from him and the sections are processed. Next, the flower is moved to a cool room. Street plantings are covered with soil and covered with fallen leaves.

Diseases and pests

Due to frequent and abundant watering, the plant is affected by root rot. Therefore, do not violate the rules of care.

Campanulu is also able to infect a spider mite, and the plant can dry out and die if you do not start to fight at the first sign.

If you find dots on the leaves that grow over time, but on the plant you can notice small cobwebs, then you should treat the flower with an insecticide (for example, "Aktara") 2 times with an interval of two weeks.

Reproduction

Campanula reproduces by dividing the bush, grafting or planting seeds:

  • During transplantation, the roots can be divided into 3-4 parts, and the cuts can be treated with charcoal. Plant each one separately at a shallow depth and grow as usual.
  • After pruning, leave thick stems. Places of cuts are processed and dried. Next, the cutting is placed in a container of water and the roots are awaited. The plant is then planted in suitable land and grown in the usual way.
  • Seeds are planted in a container with prepared soil in early spring. The surface is well sprayed and covered with a film or other transparent material so that there is a greenhouse effect. Air the landing from time to time. After the plants have hatched and grown a little, they dive into different containers.

Campanula is used to create design compositions on the site together with other colors. It will also look great in tall flowerpots and hanging pots.
