Good afternoon, my reader. The beautiful lavender flower is difficult to grow. However, it is worth trying at least because of its attractive appearance. It can be propagated by cuttings or seeds, each of these methods is individual, and gardeners decide for themselves which one to choose.

Growing lavender from cuttings
Lavender stalk - The top of the stem, which is planted outdoors to form roots. Instances grown from cuttings are identical with the mother flower, they are no different from the parent. The advantage of this method is that it is inexpensive and the most effective.
Bright bunches of green on the branches are young shoots of the current year. It is these branches that are cut into cuttings for lavender propagation. In March, most shoots are still short, and therefore last year's stems with leaves can be used as cuttings. These shoots do not lag behind the young in the formation of the root system.
Cutting cuttings. At this stage, you need to separate a branch about 6 cm long from the lavender, the cut should be located below the leaf node, in the place from which the leaf grows. The best tool for this is a sharpened knife. It is better not to use scissors: they pinch the shoot ducts, and then it will be difficult for the plant to take root.
Removing leaves. With the knife with which the cuttings were cut, you need to remove the leaves from the bottom of the branch, leaving the top bunch. They need to be left, since the stalk feeds on this bundle. It is important to leave some leaves, because otherwise the energy of the cutting will go to them, and not to the formation of the root system.
Planting cuttings. An important procedure is placing the workpiece in a root formation stimulator (a good option is "Kornevin"), only then plant it in pots, deepening it to the upper bunch of leaves. It is customary to prepare the substrate from the universal perlite soil, in a 1: 1 ratio.
Please note: Avoid overturning lavender cuttings as they may not take root in the pot. Place them in the container just as they grew.
A ceramic pot is best suited as a container for growing, plastic options do not allow water and air to pass through well, clay allows plants to breathe. Good air exchange and water balance are very important for root formation. Properly created conditions reduce the risk of fungal diseases.
Waiting to take root. Water the cuttings immediately after placing the lavender in open ground. However, do not overdo it: lavender does not require abundant watering, it needs moderate moisture as the soil dries. After watering, cover the pots with bags and place in a warm place. Such insulation helps to establish a favorable temperature and maintain high humidity.
Rooting takes about 4-6 weeks. After this time, the plants are planted in different containers, after making sure that the roots have formed. Even if the lavender itself has grown, but the roots have not, wait until they form.
Transfer to individual pots. When lavender roots are visible from the drainage holes, it is time to plant the grown flowers. Avoid containers that are too spacious, this will make the roots weak and thin. In this case, an adult plant will be susceptible to diseases and pests.
To transplant, you need to turn the pots over and gently knock on the bottom, after which the seedlings will be in the hands of the gardener. After that, the plants are planted in the substrate, no longer covered with bags. At this stage, the lavender hardens and does not need excessive heat.
Planting in open ground. After lavender grows up to 8-10 cm in an apartment, it is ready to be placed in open ground. Slightly alkaline and well-drained soil is fine.
