Good afternoon, my reader. Some summer residents believe that moles that have settled on the site cause great damage to various crops and future crops. Others say the opposite. Of course, the fight against them on the site is necessary, but you need to choose the most humane and effective ways to expel the underground resident.

Harmful and useful activity of a mole
When moles move underground, they damage and expose the root system of plants. Besides:
- They violate the landscape of the summer cottage.
- They eat earthworms, which makes the soil less fertile.
- They even eat beneficial insects that improve soil aeration.
- When digging holes, they throw up infertile soil, which will inhibit the growth of crops.
- Moles, like mice, are carriers of various infections.
Now you need to figure out whether it's worth getting rid of the mole at all. Indeed, in the process of underground work, he not only arranges his home, but also brings many benefits:
- Loosens the soil, thereby contributing to its breathability and moisture.
- Moles are insectivorous animals, so they eat not only earthworms, but also numerous garden pests and vegetable gardens, including wintering pests, which can cause much more damage to crops than animal.
- If a mole has settled on the site, mice and shrews are unlikely to take root here, and it is they who pretty much spoil the plantings.
Based on the listed pros and cons, we can conclude that moles are not so harmful as to destroy them with pesticides or deadly traps. You need to find a way to deal with them, in which animals will bypass your site.
Control methods
Over the years, summer residents have accumulated many ways to resist the mole. Description of some of them:
- Fill the holes with water. This method is not particularly effective, and it is also expensive. The mole digs rather deep and branched passages. Therefore, when they are flooded, he will retreat into more distant non-flooded ones and begin to further expand his dwelling instead of the spoiled one. In addition, the expulsion of animals will require large volumes of water, which will then have to be paid for.
- Seal the passages. Instead of poor eyesight, nature gave the animal a keen sense of smell. Taking advantage of this, summer residents put something sharp-smelling in their holes: rotten fish heads, rags soaked in vinegar, kerosene or onion infusion. Moles can leave their habitable places, but the smells that need to be constantly updated are unlikely to be liked by households.
- Plant bulbous plants. Some plant tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, believing that these flowers scare off moles. Marigolds, legumes and spurge also cause unpleasant sensations in the animals and force them to retreat, although no one gives a guarantee of getting rid of the underground inhabitants.
- Drive out with noise. To create an unpleasant vibration for them, metal rods are dug in throughout the site and empty cans are planted on them, which will serve as ratchets in the wind. It is not known if vibration will be transmitted to the soil, but concern for yourself and your neighbors is guaranteed.
- Set traps. Empty jars are buried in the ground, into which the moles fall, after which they are taken out and carried over long distances. Firstly, this method is quite laborious and unsafe for children and pets, which can stumble and injure their limbs. Secondly, it is not a fact that the animals will not return to "their" inhabited territory after a while.
- Install a mesh of plastic or metal with small cells or sheets of roofing material. They are dug in to a depth of 50-70 cm, then sprinkled with earth and leveled. The protective structure does not allow moles to penetrate to the fertile soil layer in which the plant roots are located. This method of protection is considered effective, but it takes a lot of time and effort.
Effective mole repeller
According to summer residents, the most effective way to get rid of underground animals is the environmentally friendly vibration-acoustic repeller "Antikrot Green Belt". It generates special signals that cause strong anxiety and panic in moles, which is why they leave their inhabited territory.
"Antikrot" operates within a radius of 17-20 m and operates on one battery for six months. It is harmless to people and pets. The vibro-scarer of underground inhabitants allows not only to keep the beds in proper condition, but also to get rid of the mole in a humane way without harming it.
