You can build a barrier device from an unnecessary car tire. You will need to cut it lengthwise into 2 parts. One of them is placed in a ditch dug around the trunk with a cut up. Pour water into the formed groove. Ants cannot overcome a water obstacle.
You can also create a barrier from crushed chalk. The powder is sprinkled abundantly around the trunk. The chalk will collect on the ant's feet, depriving them of their tenacity. The insect cannot climb the tree.
Belt
A special hunting belt, fixed on the trunk 20 cm from the ground, will also help protect the tree from the ant fraternity.
Making a belt yourself is not difficult. The clothesline should be generously greased with a slippery substance like Vaseline, and then wrapped around the barrel. Murashi will slide down. The device will not harm the tree.
You can also make a belt from polyethylene tape and solid oil. First, the film is wrapped around the barrel and then smeared with a slippery substance. Instead of grease, you can use resin or birch tar.
For the construction of a trapping belt, double-sided tape is also applicable, as well as paper adhesive tape for trapping flies indoors.
Impregnation
You can fight ants and aphids and by coating the bark with such impregnating agents:
- A mixture for which carbon black was combined with linseed oil and table salt. It is applied to the trunk, forming a thick layer 15-20 cm wide.
- Low concentration bleach.
- Gruel obtained by chopping garlic cloves (you can also tie garlic arrows around the trunk).
Spraying
It is possible to resort to spraying trees from pests, in particular ants and aphids, during the warm season. There should be several treatments.
For spraying, such folk remedies are applicable:
- A mixture obtained by dissolving black soap (400 g) in kerosene (100 ml). It is enriched with carbolic acid (2 tbsp. l.). The resulting substance is diluted with water (10 l) and treated with garden culture. You can also water the anthill with liquid.
- Wormwood infusion. Pour 30 g of dry plant materials and 300 g of freshly picked herbs with water (10 l) and infuse for 24 hours. After the liquid is filtered and sprayed with it trees.
- A solution of soda (5 g per 1 l of water) with the addition of linseed oil (30 g).
- "Coca Cola". The drink is diluted with water (proportion - 5: 1) and the resulting liquid is irrigated with horticultural crops susceptible to the invasion of ants.
Professional remedies
If folk methods do not give the desired result, purchased insecticidal preparations will come to the rescue:
- "Thunder 2";
- "Clean house";
- "Ant-eater".
These products are usually available in gel form. They will need to coat the trunk and place a bait for ants nearby. Within 30 days, it will be possible to observe the mass death of pests.
Scare away by plants
It is also possible to scare off the ant fraternity from the garden by planting plants, the aroma of which these insects cannot stand. We are talking about tansy, elderberry, peppermint, chamomile, wormwood, calendula. You can also just scatter fresh wormwood or elderberry branches between the trees.
You can achieve an excellent effect in the fight against ants using several techniques at once. For example, combine the use of trapping belts with the use of folk remedies for spraying plants.
