Organics for eggplant

An indispensable fertilizer for eggplants is vegetable waste, on the basis of which compost is made. After harvesting, all leftovers should be transferred to a suitable container and left to rot until the spring season. For growing eggplant seedlings, 2-year-old compost is used, because in 1 year it will not have time to rot normally and will continue to emit heat, endangering the life of young seedlings. In addition, sawdust or fallen leaves can be used to prepare the compost.

The next organic feeding is rotted cow dung. Humus is used without prior arrangement of bedding. When mullein is mixed with urea, much more nitrogen is concentrated in the fertilizer than in pure manure.

To stimulate the growth of the culture, it is allowed to use vermicompost, which is produced by worms.

An equally useful food for eggplant is ash obtained from plant residues and herbs that are burned at the stake. Such fertilization affects the fertility of the substrate, enriching it with useful substances and maintaining normal acidity.

When choosing organic food, it is important not to overdo it with the amount. Otherwise, the plants will begin to form a green mass, and the number of ovaries will sharply decrease.

Mineral components

Three main components are used as minerals for eggplants:

  • Nitrogen.
  • Potassium.
  • Phosphorus.

Deficiency of such chemical elements can provoke loss of yield or plant extinction.

Lack of nitrogen stops the growth of young shoots. To avoid it, you should distribute nitrate, nitroammophos or ammophos over the garden in time. In this case, an excess of nitrogen-containing drugs can cause the accumulation of nitrates in the fruit. You should also refuse to apply top dressing in the autumn, because under the influence of rain, all fertilizers will be washed off.

Phosphorus additives are used at high soil moisture. The optimal solution is a double dose of superphosphate. On soils with high acidity, phosphate rock is used, which strengthens the immunity of eggplant and increases its resistance to diseases.

Potassium is intended to speed up cellular metabolism and photosynthesis. Under the influence of potash fertilizers, organic acids are formed, and the culture can more easily cope with temporary moisture deficit.

The complex dressings contain 2 or more minerals. In addition, there are combined, mixed and compound fertilizers on sale, which are distinguished by high efficiency and speed.
