Description of the variety
The duration of the ripening period of tubers does not exceed 80 days (under normal conditions). The countdown begins from the moment the seed potatoes are laid in the ground. Root characteristics:

The Gala variety is a table variety; potatoes retain their taste after cooking various dishes. Under the influence of high temperatures, the roots do not darken, do not boil. After cooking, the tubers also retain useful food components, such as carotene.
The advantages of the Gala variety:
- suitable for growing in regions of the middle zone of the country;
- planting dates may vary somewhat, there are no strict requirements, there are only recommendations for laying seed in the ground;
- Gala potato variety loves moisture, otherwise it is unpretentious;
- this variety is considered high-yielding - up to 20 tubers can be harvested from 1 bush;
- contains less starch than other varieties;
- the pulp is a pleasant light yellow color;
- Gala tubers are not boiled;
- has excellent taste characteristics;
- the crop is stored for a long time;
- Gala potatoes are poorly susceptible to the development of diseases.
The main disadvantage is low resistance to fungal infection affecting the base of the stem (rhizoctoniasis), which causes the bush to die.
Planting and leaving
For planting, you need to prepare medium-sized potatoes weighing 80 g or more, small tubers will not work. But taking too large root crops should not be due to the risk of rotting. To speed up the formation of ovaries, the tubers are pre-germinated: they are laid out in layers, a layer of sawdust is poured on top of each. At this stage, the planting material is watered.
Gala potatoes are unpretentious in choosing a place for planting, but they grow best on loamy soils. In the fall, the soil is prepared: they dig up and add a mixture of ammonium nitrate (13 g), 30% potassium salt (12 g), double superphosphate (15 g).
