There are several options for feeding strawberries during fruiting. If fertilization is not applied, then the berries will become smaller, less sweet and juicy. Additional nutrition is especially necessary for large varieties.

Top dressing during the formation of ovaries and pouring berries

During the formation of ovaries, strawberry bushes are often deficient in potassium. Compounds of this mineral are introduced into the soil in several ways:

  • Dry or wet method of applying wood ash. In the first variant, ash is scattered in the aisle at the rate of 1 handful per 1 plant. Then the bed is watered abundantly. To prepare a liquid composition, 200 ml of ash is poured into 1 liter of hot water. Insist 3-4 hours, filter and dilute with settled water in a ratio of 1:10. For 1 plant, it is enough to use 1 liter of solution.

  • The complex preparation (Universal or Kemira) is mixed with ammonia compounds and potassium salts in equal proportions. The mixture is brought in dry. It is enough to pour 5 g of the composition under 1 bush. Then the plantings are watered abundantly.
  • Potassium salts in an amount of 20-30 g are diluted in 1 bucket of water and watered with strawberries.

During fruiting itself, plants may also lack various minerals, so fertilizers are applied again. For this purpose, mullein, bird droppings or infusion of nettle leaves are used. The last fertilizer is prepared according to the same recipe as for the first fertilization.

Chicken manure is often sold in pellets. Before entering the soil, it is diluted. For 1 bucket of water, it is enough to take 300 g of dry matter. Stir and leave for 1-2 days. For 1 plant, 1 liter of the composition is enough.

For a mullein solution, you need to dilute 500-600 g of organic matter in 10 liters of water and send it to infuse for 1-2 days, tightly covering the container with a lid. Then watering is carried out at the rate of 800 ml of the composition per plant.

The yeast composition also gives excellent results. To prepare it, 100 g of a pack of pressed yeast is diluted in 1 bucket of water and infused for 6-7 hours. For a more complex composition, take 2 tbsp. l. sugar, 1 tbsp. l. dry yeast and 2 g of chopped vitamin C. All are diluted in 5 liters of warm water and insisted for 5-6 hours. Then add another 10 liters of water and use it for irrigation.

Fertilizers for remontant varieties

Repair strawberry differs from simple fruiting 2 times a year. There are varieties that yield more often. The second time the plants begin to bear fruit in August or September. This harvest is often more plentiful than the previous one, so the plantings are in dire need of additional nutrition.

In total, remontant varieties are recommended to be fed 3 times a year. And all the stages are in the spring. With the correct selection of nutrients, the bushes will have enough useful elements until late autumn. If desired, you can apply fertilizer 4 times before wintering itself, so that the plant can better endure frosts.

The first manipulation is carried out after the complete convergence of the snow cover. Top dressing is aimed at supporting the intensive growth of green mass. During this period, it is best to use rotted cattle manure and ammonium compounds. For 1 bucket of settled water, it is enough to take 500 g of humus and 20-30 g of ammonium salt. Everything is stirred until smooth and infused for 2-3 hours. For watering, it is enough to use 700-800 ml of liquid per plant.

When re-feeding, use a solution of a fresh mullein or nettle infusion. It is carried out long before the beginning of flowering. In the first case, 400-450 g of cattle waste is taken for 1 bucket of water. Stir and add 0.5 l under 1 bush.

To prepare 2 products, you need to fill a container with a volume of 10 liters with freshly harvested nettle leaves and pour warm water so that the liquid completely covers the green mass. Everything is sent to a dark corner to infuse for 3 days. After that, it is filtered and used for watering.

The third manipulation occurs in the last decade of May. Mineral fertilizers are used to prepare the composition. For 10 liters of settled or rain water, take 5 g of potassium salts and 50-60 g of nitrophoska. The granules are mixed until dissolved. It is enough to use 500 ml of liquid for 1 plant.
