The carpet is always an accent of the interior, a kind of painting on the floor. It gives comfort and warmth to the room. Loaded with details or too small rooms do not need carpets, since they will be too crowded there.

In other cases, the use of carpets is quite appropriate, but you must adhere to a number of rules, the designer said. Elena Tsareva.

5. How to choose the size?

The carpet is designed to highlight any area - the soft area of the living room, mini-dining room or bedside area in the bedroom. The size of the carpet is determined depending on the location chosen. It shouldn't occupy the whole room.

For example, in the living room, it is enough that the front legs of the sofa and armchairs stand on a part of the carpet or, if the budget allows, the carpet is taken more than the area for placing the sofa and armchairs.

4. How to use a carpet in the bedroom?

In the bedroom, you can arrange bedside pairs - small rugs on the sides of the bed and one in front of it. Or the carpet is taken in a large size and placed under the bed with the long side perpendicular to the bed, with outlets from the sides of the bed (not less than a meter) and in front of it.

In the dining area, the size of the carpet should go beyond the chairs in the retracted position. If you do not follow these rules, the carpet will look defective in the interior.

3. How to match the color?

The carpet should be selected based on the shades of the interior. Moreover, it is not necessary that the color be completely tone on tone, you can choose tones, shades or halftones of the main color.

Or, if the interior style is monotonous and you want to add colors, you can choose an accent carpet in colors that were not in the room before.

2. How to connect with style?

If the design is modern, then you can give preference to a carpet with an abstract or geometric print. For a classic interior, a carpet with a pattern, ornament, possibly with edging and fringe is suitable.

But this is not a strict rule, since different ideas and concepts can be bogged down in one interior, for example, a high-tech style with a carpet with a classic ornament, and this can also look very interesting.

1. Which material is better?

Carpets are made from both natural and artificial materials. Woolen carpets are in the first place in terms of their properties - they absorb sound, are wear and moisture resistant and are durable. Silk carpets are pleasant to the touch, and often it is even a shame to lay them on the floor, because they are often almost works of art, and therefore they are hung on the walls.

Cotton carpets are best used in rooms with high humidity, as they absorb moisture well. Acrylic, polyester and polypropylene carpets are usually cheaper, they also absorb moisture and mold well, more resistant to cleaning, and also does not leave an impression on high pile after installing heavy furniture. However, such items may be less pleasant to the touch.
