The benefits of growing vegetables in greenhouses are obvious - tomatoes, for example, can be harvested a month earlier than using the open method. But to get strong and healthy fruits, it is necessary to feed the tomatoes in the greenhouse with organic and mineral substances.

What and when to feed tomatoes in a greenhouse

Gardeners know that for the normal development of tomatoes, 3 main trace elements are needed: nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. But how much to make, in what combination or sequence, how often, constantly, or in some periods of development and fruiting - this needs to be said in more detail.

Complex application of nutrients is carried out in several stages. Moreover, you can use not only synthetic drugs, but also folk remedies.

First step

The procedure is carried out 2 weeks after the seedlings are planted in the greenhouse. Young plants need support to accelerate the growth of green mass, which will allow the formation of a strong skeleton that can withstand ripening fruits. So that the tomatoes do not stretch out and their stems do not become thinner, it is imperative to feed them with a solution of calcium nitrate during this period.

As a top dressing, one of the compositions is used:

  • a solution of a rotted mullein in combination with 30 g of nitrophoska;
  • a solution of chicken manure, infused for a week, with the addition of 30 g of superphosphate and 15 g of potassium sulfide;
  • a solution of mineral fertilizers (30 g each of nitrate and nitrophoska);
  • two-week infusion of nettle (pour a bucket of chopped stalks with warm water) - 0.5 liters per 1 bush.

Second phase

This feeding is carried out when buds are formed on the plant, and during the flowering process. Forming the ovary, tomatoes need potassium and phosphorus. Therefore, formulations must contain these elements. A solution that contains wood ash and boric acid works well. 1 kg of ash is poured into 2 liters of boiling water, 10 g of boric acid is added to the cooled composition and 10 liters of water are added.

The second option is a solution with potassium sulfide (20 g) and superphosphate (30 g), prepared with 10 liters of water. The granules should dissolve completely.

Watering is carried out at the root of each bush.

Stage three

During the fruiting period, tomatoes need nutrients to improve the taste of tomatoes. These are potassium-containing dressings in the form of aqueous solutions: nitrate in combination with magnesium sulfate, as well as humate and nitrophoska.

From folk recipes, yeast with sugar, diluted in 3 liters of water, infused for a week, has proven itself well. The nutrient mixture is made from 0.5 liters of the resulting composition, which is diluted in 10 liters of warm liquid. Watering is carried out at the root.

In all cases, some one of the liquid dressings is taken to feed the tomatoes.

All the funds in question are root. But there is another way of introducing nutrition for tomatoes - foliar. This method increases the yield by spraying the bushes with various nutrient solutions.

In the last month of summer, when the tomatoes complete the formation of fruits, the final feeding is carried out after pinching the tops. A liquid fertilizer of 0.5 liters is applied under each bush: monophosphate (15 g) + potassium magnesium (10 g) per 10 liters of water.
