The weather does not always allow tomatoes to ripen in the garden, but in order not to lose the harvest, you can speed up this process yourself. If you use alcohol to ripen tomatoes, then the fruits will begin to sing earlier for 1-2 weeks. This technique was confirmed by Russian scientists, but did not receive recognition in the agricultural industry due to high financial costs.

Work in the garden

In order for the tomatoes to ripen faster, ethyl alcohol is introduced into the fruit. Before the injection, ethanol must be diluted with water (in order to reduce the strength). You can replace alcohol with vodka. Homemade alcohol (moonshine) is not recommended.

In order not to spoil the fruits, it is necessary to carry out work in the garden correctly. You will need a clean (sterile) syringe for injections. The place where the puncture will be is treated with an antiseptic. If you do not use a clean syringe and disinfect the vegetable, microorganisms can enter it. Pathogenic microflora can spread to the entire bush, i.e. not only the punctured tomato will start to deteriorate, but the whole plant as well.

The injection is done once. For manipulation, you should choose sunny weather. If it is cloudy outside, it is better to postpone the procedure. The sun's rays are needed to cauterize puncture sites and prevent infection. If everything is done correctly, then at the time of removing the fruit from the bush, the traces of the needle will not be visible.

For convenience, a 20 ml syringe is taken for work. The number of injections per fetus will depend on its size. For a tomato weighing about 100 g, 3-4 injections are required. After each puncture, 0.5 ml of ethanol is introduced into the vegetable.

The color change of tomatoes will begin to occur on day 5-7, and after 1.5-2 weeks they can be removed from the bush.

Tomatoes ripened with alcohol will not differ in appearance and taste from naturally ripened vegetables. Under the influence of sunlight, the taste of alcohol disappears.

Regardless of the variety of tomatoes planted, after the introduction of alcohol into the fruit, the process of ripening will begin. The size of the vegetable doesn't matter either. But it is better to give preference to species that are resistant to cracking.

You should not give injections to tomatoes growing on bushes with signs of various diseases. Under these circumstances, injections of alcohol can kill the entire seedling.

In order not to disrupt the ripening process, you should not fertilize the soil where vegetable bushes grow with nitrogen-containing substances. Otherwise, they activate the growth of deciduous mass and inhibit the reddening of the fruit. During the same period, watering should be completely abandoned or moistened into the soil, but with a small amount of water.

In some tomato varieties, after the introduction of alcohol into the fruits, partial yellowing and foliage are observed, even if the plant is not affected by any infections. This reaction to alcohol is considered normal. At the moment when the fruits are ripe, the bush will begin to recover.
