Laying tiles seems like a simple task only at first glance. And although there is really little that is fundamentally difficult in this procedure, many still make mistakes. First of all, because they do not know not only some "workshop" tricks, but even the basics of the finishing process. It's time to correct the current state of affairs by organizing a small tiled "LikBez" for citizens who prefer to be engaged in the repair of amateur performances in the best sense.
1. Mistakes when applying tile adhesive
Mistakes in the application of tile adhesive are perhaps the most common. They are very different, but we will recall first of all the three most common. So, the first one is laying glue in small "drops" along the edges of the tiles. This cannot be done, otherwise the tile may crack in the center when physical impact is exerted on it (upon impact).
The second mistake is when the tile adhesive is placed exclusively in the center of the tile and after that it is not “unrolled” with a comb. You can't do that either. The situation is similar to the first, only in this case cracks can appear already at the edges.
The third mistake is when, when applying glue to the tile, the master makes arched grooves with a comb. Correct furrows should be exceptionally straight, vertical or horizontal. If you make them arched, then there will be very little glue in the corners.
2. Putting putty between plaster and adhesive
For some reason, some masters and owners put a layer of putty between the tile glue and the plaster. All you need to know on this issue is that the described procedure does not make any sense at all. Moreover, it makes the cost of work higher and may even reduce the reliability of the adhesive.
3. Errors in priming
The next common and very serious mistake that quite a lot of owners make is laying tiles without using a primer. If you do not use the "primer" in your work, then very soon the moisture from the tile adhesive will go into the wall. The result is sad: the composition does not have time to gain the required strength, and the tile simply falls off.
Separately, it should be noted that you should not even try to replace the priming procedure with the usual wetting with water. Although this procedure does help to somewhat reduce the loss of moisture into the wall from the glue, it does not give a 100% guarantee.

4. Refusal from preliminary layout
You should never lay tiles without preliminary layout. A popular mistake leads to the fact that something does not fit in the end, something lays down crooked, something looks bad. As a result, you have to either cut the tiles (in the best case) or even redo whole pieces of the finished coating. All this does not in the best way affect the cost of repair work.

Separately, it should be added that you should not use a grinder to cut tiles. First, it's just dangerous. Secondly, in inexperienced hands, there is a high probability of spoiling a bunch of material.
5. Ignoring the level of work
Last on our list of bugs, but far from the least. Perhaps even the first! Only one word - level. Don't forget to use this tool. In any case, if you do not want to redo all the work in a few hours or before the next repair "admire" the curved and oblique coating.
