6 Soviet bicycles that can't be demolished

The Soviet production of goods had several distinctive features. First, it was planned. Secondly, planning did not save one from a deficit. But this drawback was at least partially offset by one well-known fact: most of the goods produced in the USSR were made, as they say, "for centuries." And if cars still often broke down, then the bicycles turned out to be of such high quality that even today they will give odds to many modern counterparts. We bring to your attention 6 Soviet two-wheeled vehicles, which still drive like new.

Ural is a product of the Perm Machine-Building Plant. It was considered almost the pinnacle of engineering, as it was almost the best example of a heavy road bike. Powerful in size but fast, it was one of the most famous models of the Soviet era.

Another brainchild of the Perm Engineering Plant. But, unlike its “big brother”, “Kama” is small in size, and besides, it is a folding bike. Therefore, children often got it, or it was purchased by those who lived in small-sized apartments and houses.

The Salyut bicycle can rightfully be considered a symbol of Soviet bicycle production. One of the most famous among Soviet citizens, he was somewhat similar to "Kama". So, for example, it also folded, which contributed to its simplified transportation. However, there was one clear difference - the Salyut had an increased wheel diameter.

This is the brainchild of the Kharkov Bicycle Plant named after VI Petrovsky was known in every corner of the Soviet Union. The adult road bike "Ukraine" was one of the best-selling among all models produced in the USSR, and it was in great demand among consumers. The reason for this popularity was not only the quality of the bike itself, but also its versatility: it was intended for tourist, business and pleasure trips on roads of various surfaces.

Basically, both models are one bike. But the teenage bike was designed for boys, and the Swallow was adapted for girls. The history of production is also interesting: initially these bicycles began to be produced in the 1950s on the basis of the Minsk Bicycle Factory. However, later they were mastered by the Shauliai Bicycle and Motor Plant of the Lithuanian SSR.

The history of this bicycle was very short-lived - it was produced by the Kharkov Bicycle Plant from 1973 to 1975. However, those who managed to purchase it speak of it as fast, maneuverable and high-quality transport. We can say that it, like other Soviet goods, lived up to its purpose, being a sports - tourist bike for business, tourist and pleasure trips. In addition, its owners claim that today Sputnik drives alongside its modern counterparts.
