The automatic pumping system has two functions. Firstly, it can be used to save the wheel in the event of a minor breach. The system will supply air, helping to maintain the pressure at a more or less acceptable level at a crucial moment. Secondly, the wheel inflation system is constantly used to relieve pressure in the wheels when leaving on rough terrain and to build up pressure in the wheels when leaving the highway.
