There are a lot of traffic rules. It is no wonder that after one year, most motorists perfectly remember only those points that they encounter every day when leaving their yard by car. A convoy accompanied by traffic police cars is not the thing that you see on the highway every day. And therefore, when this does happen, some motorists almost have a stupor.
In order to correctly answer all the questions related to the movement of the column along the road, it is enough to remember such a thing as the rules of the road. Literally in section 1 of the traffic rules there is a definition of "organized transport convoy". Actually, an organized convoy is a group of three or more mechanical transport means that follow directly one after another, walking along the same lane with always on headlights. The convoy must also have a lead vehicle with flashing beacons on and a color-graphic scheme.
Important: The head vehicle does not have to be a traffic police car. It could be any other government car with flashing lights. According to the law, vehicles of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, ambulances and the Military Automobile Inspection (VAI) also have the right to organize convoys (except for traffic police vehicles).
There are also several points in the road traffic rules that regulate the procedure for overtaking and advancing an organized convoy of vehicles and pedestrians. So, in paragraph 2.7 it is said that the driver is prohibited from taking a seat and crossing the order of columns. At the same time, it is possible to overtake the following vehicles in the order if this maneuver does not interfere with its following and does not cause an emergency car integration into the rows. The exception is those cases when the escort vehicles have flashing beacons turned on. If a "chandelier" is flashing at a police car, then overtake such a column prohibited! At the same time, if a convoy follows a two-lane road, then nothing prohibits drivers from overtaking it.

If you overtake a convoy, which is accompanied by cars with working flashing beacons and sound signals, then the motorist is threatened with deprivation of rights. Therefore, it is best not to mess with the columns in principle - follow in the tail until it leaves the highway or look for roundabouts to your destination.
