Surely every motorist drew attention to the fact that the surface of brand new tires is literally dotted with a huge number of some kind of rubber tails. What is it and why is it needed? As often happens, fellow citizens who do not know the true answer to a question offer a variety of and sometimes very entertaining versions on this score. In reality, everything is much simpler and more interesting.
As one of the Internet users noted under an article on a very popular men's publication: "For a long time my wife believed that these were the very thorns about which there is so much fuss." Of course, the rubber ponytails on the surface of brand new tires are not at all "the same spikes." However, motorists themselves do not limit themselves in imagination during the advancement of all sorts of theories.
So, someone thinks that these gizmos will help determine the expiration date of the tire: as soon as they grind off, the rubber needs to be changed. Others are sure that this is some indicator of the level of quality. Still others believe that the existing bumps help the wheel to improve traction. In general, there are a lot of versions of different degrees of plausibility about villi. The vast majority of them have nothing to do with reality.

The irony is that the wheel has nothing to do with these villi. Unexpected, isn't it? They appear naturally during the production of a tire, specifically during its vulcanization. There are technical holes in the mold in which the tire is made. It is in them that the hot rubber rushes, being under high pressure. And since there is no benefit or danger from the villi, no one wastes time and energy to remove them from the wheel. They themselves will be erased, and very soon.

By the way, we can assume that the presence of such bulges on a new wheel is really a sign of high quality. Since if there are fluffs on the rubber, this means that there is absolutely no air left in the material during production. And this is very good
