Our question is simple: how to saw off a nail with a hacksaw on a tree so as not to damage the working blade? Answer: If you try to saw a nail with those teeth that are intended for woodworking, then you will not. Firstly, cutting off a nail (especially a not very thick one) in this way simply will not work, because it will simply jump between the saw teeth. Secondly, even if it turns out to cut, the teeth will become dull very quickly, they may even bend, or even break.

It is quite obvious that the latter is not at all the result of the work that we need. Therefore, sawing nails with a hacksaw on wood should not be with the main working blade, but with its back. But it's not that simple. First, the tool will need to be prepared for such a job. And for this you need some kind of durable, hard, rigid metal object with a thin tapering edge. It's a pity to put the knife into the preparation business - it will dull. It is best to use a regular file.

The first step is to make notched teeth on the back of the saw. To do this, we hit the canvas several times in different places along its entire length with more or less the same pitch. Having made improvised fine teeth, you can go directly to the process of sawing off a nail. Here everything is the same as with normal sawing, only we work with the reverse side. A couple of seconds and you're done. Medium nails take about 30 seconds.
