Why are strange holes made in the sleeves

On the net, you can stumble upon photos of quite strange casings from various ammunition to rifled weapons. We are talking about spent cartridges, at the base of which a hole is made. It is quite obvious that it was done after the cartridge was fired, because otherwise such "tuning" would have made the ammunition simply unusable.

A cartridge case lying on the ground is not a thing worth touching with your hands. In reality, it's best to just walk past her and forget about where you last saw her. Although this item looks extremely harmless, you still should not mess with such things, so as not to find adventures to your fifth point. Anyway, if you are not an employee of the relevant authorities or a certified archaeologist.

And yet, many would probably be interested to know where the sleeves with a hole at the base come from. To find in this form a variety of casings are obtained, some of which were produced (judging by the brands) at the end of the 19th century. A significant part of such finds refers either to cartridges from the Second World War or to those that remained from the time of the Civil War in Russia.

It is easy to see that the holes in the sleeves are arbitrary. Very often they are done with a nail and a hammer. What is it? In fact, as always, everything is very simple.

The shot shells with holes are artifacts left over from the fun of Soviet children. In the 1970-1980s, yard boys kept making carbide crackers. They were made from a cartridge case, a can of dichlorvos, a match and a good spit. The clap of such an artisanal firecracker was simply deafening! Such a "toy" is extremely dangerous. However, this did not stop the Soviet kids.
