Not everyone can become an astronaut. It takes a lot of work to fly into space. At the same time, becoming an astronaut, a person will face many more difficulties and dangers. Is it any wonder that over the years the space explorers have acquired their own professional signs and even good traditions. Some of them look frankly strange for the uninitiated layman, for example, the need to "go small" on the wheel of the bus before departure.

April 12, 1961 is the most important day in the history of mankind. It was then that the first manned flight into outer space took place. Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin left the Earth on a rocket, becoming a living legend. Everyone knows about it. But few people know that Yuri Gagarin, without knowing it, laid down a funny tradition on the day before the flight, which is followed by all male astronauts today. It is about urinating before flying on the wheel of the bus.

Of course, back in 1961, no one paid attention to this. According to the recollections of the people involved, the bus with Gagarin was moving to the starting point. At this moment, Yuri Alekseevich wanted to cope with a small need. The bus was stopped, but there was nothing around except the field and the road to the cosmodrome. The day was windy, so in order not to walk far, Gagarin simply urinated on the wheel of the bus.

After that, Yuri Alekseevich made the most important step in the history of mankind. The flight was successful, and therefore very soon the new cosmonauts turned this amusing incident into a kind of "sit down on the track." Of course, this “tradition” also has a utilitarian purpose. The fact is that 6 hours pass between the moment of landing in the rocket and until the moment when the cosmonaut can use the services of the utility compartment. It is quite obvious that during this time (even on an empty stomach) the body will ask you to cope with a small need, and not everyone, even the most persistent person, can endure for so long. So peeing while the bus is moving is the last chance for an astronaut.

Interesting fact: at the MAKS-2019 air show in Zhukovsky, a new domestic spacesuit called "Sokol-M" was presented. And with him an unpleasant problem immediately arose. The journalists noticed that the suit lacks a fly. Without it, astronauts will not be able to relieve themselves, including before the flight. The situation turned out, to put it mildly, strange that such an important state development was not approached so carefully. Nevertheless, the creators of "Sokol-M" assured the public that the fly will be added to the design of the suit.
