How to make an efficient garage heating stove from old batteries

The off-season is coming to an end, and along with it, the "street" cold from residential and technical premises will have to leave. But the summer will pass and autumn will come again, and with it the cold. So, you need to think about the "sleigh" in advance. Why not take the time to create an artisanal oven for your garage that will get rid of mold and dampness.

What you need: cast iron radiator for 7-8 sections, sheet steel 3-5 mm, steel strip 20 mm, profile pipes 50x20 mm, 20x20 mm, 10x10 mm, heat-resistant glass, asbestos cord, door bolts 3 pcs, welded hinges 3 pcs.

In order to make a stove from old radiators, you will have to disassemble two sidewalls into sections. The easiest way to crank such a "surgical" operation is with the help of a grinder. However, you can go the hard way and disassemble the radiator with keys. But why is it needed? Moreover, after removing the ribs, they will still have to be cut into two parts using a grinder.

When all the ribs are cut, they need to be burned in a fire. This is necessary in order to remove paint from them, as well as deposits inside. After "frying" it will be useful to rub every detail with a stiff brush. Now you can proceed to welding the side walls of the future stove from the ribs. For a good potbelly stove, you will need 7-8 such parts for one wall. The weld seam must be continuous. This is necessary to achieve complete tightness.

Now we need to make a wireframe. For this we use profile pipes with a diameter of 50x20 and 20x20 mm. The frame should be cooked taking into account the fact that in the future three doors will be installed on it: for the ash pan, for firewood, for cleaning soot. The frame for the back wall is made in the image of the letter "P". It should be slightly higher than the ash pan section. At the final stage of this piece of work, all the frames must be connected by the sidewalls of the sheet steel by welding.

Next, one wavy (under the ribs) insert of sheet steel is made, which will be welded between the ribs of the future potbelly stove. After welding, the stove is carefully checked for any remaining gaps. They are brewed without fail. The next step is to create a hole for the chimney. It is made from pipes at hand. You will also need to make three doors and an ash pan. All this is made of shaped pipes by welding. The doors are recommended to be made not deaf, but with heat-resistant glass.
