Choosing a color scheme of LED strips

The color spectrum of LED strips is represented by basic colors (white, red, blue, yellow, green) and RGB strips.

White, if we are talking about monochrome white led strips, is classified by color temperature (in K - Kelvin):

  • cold white (2670-3800 K);
  • neutral white (3800-5000 K);
  • warm white (5000 - 10000 K).

Universal RGB tapes with mounted 3 crystal light-emitting diodes of different colors (R + G + B), can change the glow color. RGB controllers and DMX controllers are used to control the colors of RGB tapes.

2 kinds of RGB tapes

There are 2 types of RGB tapes, namely:

Type N1.

This type of tape uses light emitting diodes:

which are soldered in 3 pcs. next to repeating triads along the entire length of the tape.

The change in the glow color of the tape is achieved by jointly changing the glow intensity of the light-emitting diodes of each color.

Such LED strips are perfect for interior lighting when the LEDs are not visible to human vision. And if they are species, then changing the color of the glow will be less effective.

R, G and B light emitting diodes of the SMD3528 series have dimensions of 3.5 * 2.8 mm and emit a luminous flux in the range of 0.6-2.2 lumens (hereinafter lm), depending on the color of the glow. SMD5050 series light emitting diodes are larger in size, their width and length are 5 * 5 mm, and therefore, they shine brighter. The luminous flux, depending on the color of the glow, is in the range of 2-8 lm.

Therefore, by the size of the soldered light-emitting diodes on the tape, even without being guided by the technical characteristics, you can easily understand which one will be brighter in glow.

Type N2. This type of tape uses RGB light-emitting diodes of the LED-RGB-SMD3528 or LED-RGB-SMD5050 series. The main feature of these light-emitting diodes is that 3 light-emitting diodes are mounted in one case at once - red, green and blue. Because of this, the luminous flux of such LEDs is much lower.

Namely, it has the following ranges:

  • LED-RGB-SMD3528 has only 0.3-1.6 lm;
  • LED-RGB-SMD5050 has only 0.6-2.5 lumens.

Due to the fact that the crystals are essentially at the same point, good color gradation efficiency is achieved. This allows you to use led strips of this type in the creation of lighting designs without restrictions.
