When choosing a specific model of cable corrugation, check that the operating conditions and allowable temperature conditions are suitable for your environment. If electrical equipment is placed in a room with high humidity, the corrugation must be moisture resistant. Depending on the expected load, select the corrugation wall thickness.
You can also navigate the section of the electrical circuit on which you want to install a corrugation for the cable:
- For lighting equipment, a corrugation with a diameter of 16 mm will be sufficient;
- For socket groups and load switches, a corrugation for a cable of 20 mm is suitable;
- It is better to supply power from the input board to the junction box with a corrugation of 25 mm;
- The cable from the general building board to the lead-in to the apartment can be laid in a 32 mm pipe;
- To cross the floors between floors, corrugations are taken for a cable with a diameter of 40 mm.
Features of installation and fasteners
It is convenient to use special clips or clamps with dowels for fastening corrugations along the walls.
If you plan to gouge the walls, then it should be placed in the gutter. Behind gypsum plasterboard structures, the corrugated pipe can be attached to the load-bearing profile with tightening clamps.
Note, you cannot use screws or self-tapping screws that will damage the integrity of the outer layer.
To move in space, the corrugation can be rotated, but the angle of rotation, in this case, should not exceed 90 °. It is recommended to make the length of one segment no more than 20 - 25 m, while the number of turns should not exceed 4 - 5. The distance between turns must be at least 3m. And if this criterion cannot be met, a junction box is made to change the direction of the cable.
It is strictly forbidden to stack several corrugations on top of each other. They should run parallel at a distance of at least 20 - 30 mm from each other. If it is necessary to cross, two lines are located strictly perpendicular to each other.
When located behind false ceilings and similar niches, in accordance with clause 14.15 of SP 31-110-2003, a corrugated pipe brand is selected from a non-combustible material. The degree of IP protection is also taken into account, depending on the flammability group of the materials.
