Electricians - beggars or highly paid specialists? Discussing the problem of working specialties in Russia

  • Dec 14, 2020

You can often observe the following picture: a man in a terrible frost, on a special lift, fixes the problem with the wires on the pole. Do you think he is paid well for such sacrifices and hardships? Not at all, and even vice versa. But the masters who do the installation "from scratch" in rather expensive private houses often become very successful. So how to quickly move from the first category to the second - read further in the article.

Why is that?

Why is a very intelligent master from the housing office, with rich experience behind him, able to work all day long and receive no more than 30-35 thousand rubles? The essence of the problem lies in the systematic underestimation of the wages of "workers" in specialties.

Figure 1: You shouldn't work "for your uncle" - you can always work "for yourself"

To put it simply, such a master works “for his uncle,” or rather, for the state. He has a fixed salary, which is calculated from a number of numerous parameters (work experience, electrical safety group, position, etc.). And the salary, those same 30-35 thousand rubles, are calculated based on the salary. The most unpleasant thing is that the amount from month to month will remain unchanged, unless of course you take into account the ridiculous additions for some, for example, "length of service."

How do I change the system?

And it does not need to be changed, it is enough to change yourself. The most important thing in such difficult and poorly paid positions is invaluable experience. When with the help of a curve, singed on one side of a flat screwdriver and a dull knife, you have to do real magic with home wiring.

Having worked as a 1-2 electrician at any state or private enterprise, you can switch to a more profitable way of earning money - "for yourself".

How to Become a Highly Paid Electrician?

To do this, you need to do the following:

  1. Leave the job.
  2. Pass the appropriate control of knowledge and get a "crust" on electrical safety.
  3. Open an emergency. Now it requires a minimum of time and the same amount of funds.
  4. Advertise yourself correctly: create a website, open an Instagram account, shoot a whole series of videos and post them on YouTube, post ads on all available Internet sites. There are many ways, the main thing is not to stop.

It is very helpful to have a portfolio of your work handy. When the customer sees the quality and aesthetics of the installation in the photo, then this already accounts for 70% of the work done.

Benefits of working for yourself

At first, this is a disproportionately larger amount of funds than, for example, a full-time specialist in the housing office. After a certain level, the work itself begins to look for the master, and not he.

Secondly, this occupation is really interesting, and not a boring and monotonous routine. Each order becomes a test of one's own strengths and another highly effective way of developing creativity. After all, for the correct laying of several kilometers of wire, creativity is really required.

Thirdly, this is a good opportunity to set your own convenient schedule. Highly paid masters always have the right to refuse an order that simply does not suit them. Nor will they ever lose money.
