To solve various problems, motion sensors are connected according to different schemes. The simplest option is to turn on the lighting directly, as shown in the figure below.
If you allow the possibility of switching lighting equipment bypassing the motion sensor for personal needs, then it is better to use a circuit with a bypass function:
As you can see, here the rocker switch allows you to turn on the lighting even without a signal from the sensor. For those cases when the motion sensor should only work in the dark, a circuit with a photo relay is used:
If you want the lighting equipment to be switched on from movement in several zones, then a diagram of connecting one lamp to two or more sensors is used:
Installation location
Depending on the installation location, all motion sensors can be divided into:
- wall;
- ceiling;
- corner;
- universal.
The latter option can be mounted on any object - walls, ceiling elements, pillars and consoles. Such a variety is provided by a special bracket that comes with the device.
Partial installation errors
The most common mistakes when installing a motion sensor are:
- lighting equipment is located next to the motion sensor, leading to malfunctions;
- the viewing angle does not capture part of the territory, which is why the light is turned on every other time;
- in the control zone there is a heater or air conditioner, the air flows of which affect the correct operation;
- there is a bulky object in front of the sensor, which significantly narrows the viewing angle.
Adjustment
After installation, any sensor can be adjusted to the parameters of the room or features of the landscape design of the territory. To do this, you can use the functionality on the case, the purpose of which we will consider in more detail.
Tilt angle
The need to adjust the angle of inclination depends on the coincidence of the core with the desired path, sidewalk or porch space. If you need to move the active zone, you can readjust the sensor on the bracket. Some models use special handles for this. Note, however, that in models with a small vertical angle, the active zone should be adjusted not only by turning, but also by the suspension height.
Sensitivity.
The sensitivity function allows you to adjust the light on according to the size of the object. It is marked SEN on the body and can be adjusted from minimum to maximum. The lower you set the sensitivity, the worse the motion sensor will react to small objects, such as cats or dogs. As necessary, the sensitivity is increased so that the light is turned on when the smallest member of the family moves.
Delay time.
This parameter indicates how long it will take to turn on the light. To adjust it, you must use the knob marked Time. As a rule, most motion sensors allow setting the glow time from a few seconds to 10 - 15 minutes. But, if necessary, another range can be selected on the market.
Illumination level.
This option is available only for models with a built-in photo relay that reacts to the change of time of day. On the equipment case, it is marked with a LUX switch, which allows you to change the trigger limit depending on the decrease in the intensity of sunlight.
