Crimping copper lugs or sleeves is the most reliable way to connect conductors, and this fact is confirmed by the corresponding section of the PUE. But in order for the connection to be of high quality, you cannot use improvised materials, such as a chisel and a hammer, but you need to purchase a specialized tool - crimping pliers.
STV-01
Universal and easy-to-use press tongs for a wide range of tips with insulated skirts: NKI, NVI, NSHKI and many others. With such a tool, you can perform crimping on wires with a cross section of 0.5 to 6 mm2.
Pluses of CTB-01 type ticks:
- The die for crimping is made of high quality steel, so the service life of the pliers is quite long.
- Comfortable, ergonomically precise handle - you can operate the tool with one hand.
- Crimping is performed in an oval shape.
The optimal combination of price and quality makes the CTB-01 pliers quite popular among electricians.
STV-02
The main differences from the previous model: designed for crimping stranded conductors and have a matrix profile in the form of a trapezoid, not an oval. Pliers CTB-02 are specially designed to work with such types of terminals as NSHVI and NSHV, for example, for the correct connection of the consumer's wire and the circuit breaker.
With the help of СТВ-02 it is possible to crimp wires with a cross section of no more than 6 mm2. For sizes from 10 to 25 cm2, the following tool model is better suited - CTB-03.
STV-04
Unfortunately, this model is highly specialized and it will not work to use it when installing home electrical wiring. STV-04 - press tongs for car terminals made according to the "mom-dad" principle: RP-M and RP-P.
Such a tool is characterized by a completely different compression profile, namely the petal, since the car terminals have a completely different design.
STV-05
For wires with a large cross-section, through which solid currents will pass, special thick-walled tips are needed: TML, TM, GML. It is best to crimp these with a hydraulic press, but you can also press tongs of model CTB-05. The tool performs crimping in the form of a wedge, and for greater ease of operation, the structure is reinforced with a three-pivot mechanism.
PKV-16
An extremely convenient and easy-to-use crimper - PKV-16. There are no separate parts in the product - the handle and the working mechanism are one whole. A fairly wide range of ferrules used includes consumables from 0.5 to 16 mm2.
The handles of the product are filled with dielectric plastic, but it is forbidden to work with PKV-16 pressing tongs with live wires. The crimp holes on the working mechanism are signed for easy crimping. PKV-16 is used for installation work in private houses and apartments using NSHV and NSHVI tips. The cost is average, and the quality of the pliers does not differ much from the products of the CTB series.
