The phone battery is swollen: how to reanimate?

The mobility of the phone is provided by its main component - the battery. It is this part that supplies power to the offline gadget. Most cell phones run on lithium batteries, which have an average life span of 3-4 years. But sometimes the battery malfunctions, and its case swells at the same time.

Factors leading to swelling of the battery case

Several factors can cause the battery case to swell:

  • fall, strong blow to the body;
  • water or other liquid getting into the phone;
  • manufacturer defect;
  • resource development;
  • use of a non-original charger;
  • frequent continuous recharge of the battery.

These factors can lead to malfunction of the control board or leakage of the reactor in the battery while the controller is operating normally. Both situations disrupt the correct course of processes, in connection with which gas is released, which inflates the body from an overpressure.

There is a bifurcation of the plates inside the case, the capacity decreases, and then the battery becomes unusable. In order to bring him back to life, sometimes it is enough to close the plates. Provided that the service life is short and the warranty expires, you can reanimate the battery for further use.

Bringing the battery to life

First, you should try to release gases from the body. This will not help in all cases, especially if the battery is already "in years". During operation, lithium is destroyed, performance, and the capacity of the battery drops. If the battery is not yet very old, you can resuscitate in three small steps.

Step one - venting gases

Accumulators with aluminum bodies have a special window for venting gases. Unfortunately, not all models have it. Its usual location is under the controller with contacts. A puncture is made in this hole with a sharp object to release accumulated gases.

In batteries packed in an iron case, a special ball is installed for this purpose. In such a modification, the body can be freed from excess gases by pressing the ball so that it goes inside. This should be done carefully so as not to deepen it too deeply into the body, as it can bridge the plates. The appearance of a peculiar smell will indicate that the gas has left the body.

In the event that there is neither a hole nor a special ball in the battery, you can try to pierce the case with a needle or something else thin and sharp. You need to pierce it strictly at an angle, otherwise you can close the plates, which can threaten with a good situation with the release of the battery, in the worst case - with its fire.

Step two - aligning the bulged body

You can return the battery to its previous shape with a smooth, heavy object, pressing it with little force on the case. Alternatively, you can place the battery case between two wooden, plastic or metal plates in vise, slightly clamp and leave for a couple of hours, this is quite enough for the crumpled body to take the same appearance.

The third step is sealing the battery

As soon as the battery case straightens, it is necessary to seal it, for which the holes made are filled with glue or sealant. Only then is the battery inserted for charging into the phone or directly into the charger.

After this procedure, the battery will work, although its capacity will decrease slightly. The technique works in the event that the battery did not last long. In any case, it is worth trying to reanimate, there is still nothing to lose. The only condition is that you need to work very carefully, otherwise a short circuit may occur and the battery will ignite.
