It should be noted that at the very moment, as soon as you managed to identify unscrupulous people, you must first of all fix the fact that they are stealing electricity. Of course, do not forget that people can argue that it is not their fault, the connection was made by someone else, the previous owners, and they are not aware of any connections at all. Therefore, in order to resolve the situation with illegal consumption of electricity, it is important to timely contact power supply organization.

The approximate procedure for bringing people who steal electricity to clean water consists in the following actions on your part:

  1. Write a statement to the power supply organization for an extraordinary inspection or audit of your networks.
  2. Submit your application to the office that controls your area, city or region (this can be done either independently or online).
  3. When specialists from the power supply company arrive, ask them to check the electrical line and wiring in your house. Most of them have special devices for detecting illegal connections, which are much more effective than the methods described above.

  4. Be sure to ask the persons who came to check the fact of theft, draw up an act stating that those or other persons steal electricity, otherwise, without documentary evidence, nothing can be proved work out.

Having received the act, you can safely go to court to determine guilt and get a decision about the "thieves" who steal your electricity. But the verdict of law enforcement agencies for the detected violation may be different.

What threatens an electricity thief under the law?

Today, people who have been caught stealing electricity will be subject not only to administrative penalties (9.11 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation - more on this below in the text) in the form of a fine, but also criminal liability (RF Criminal Code Article 165. Causing property damage by deception or breach of trust "). Therefore, it should be understood that the result of your appeal will be a fine or even imprisonment for up to 5 years (see part 2 Articles 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)!

I will quote PART 1 Articles 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation:

1. Causing property damage to the owner or other owner of property by deception or abuse of trust in the absence of signs of theft, committed on a large scale, -
shall be punishable by a fine in the amount of up to three hundred thousand rubles, or in the amount of the wage or salary, or any other income of the convicted person for a period of up to two years, or by forced labor for a term of up to two years with or without restraint of liberty for a term of up to one year, or imprisonment for a term of up to two years with a fine of up to eighty thousand rubles or in the amount of the wage or other income of the convicted person for a period of up to six months or without it and with or without restriction of liberty for a period of up to one year such.

Calculation and amount of the fine

According to the requirements established by Article 9.11 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation, the amount of the minimum fine will directly depend on the form property, because people who steal electricity can do it not only for private purposes, but also to solve any commercial tasks.

Thus, the accrued fine is distributed according to the following principle:

  • ordinary citizens will have to pay from 1 to 2 thousand. rub. for stealing electricity;
  • officials convicted of stealing electricity will have to pay from 2 to 4 thousand. rub.;
  • entrepreneurs who do not organize their activities as a legal entity are subject to collection from 2 to 4 thousand. rub. or restriction in activity up to 90 days;
  • legal entities for which you have recorded that they steal electricity will be forced to pay from 20 to 40 thousand. rub. or be suspended for 90 days.
