Pavel Shelyagin, designer and founder of Fields furniture store, told why perfectionism does not lead to good, and how to stop suffering over trifles and start enjoying renovation.

The more imperfect, the more budgetary

The interior should be comfortable and aesthetic, and let the ideals remain on the covers of magazines.

Let the interior change with you

Tastes change. Fashion is changing. What seemed cool yesterday will seem bad manners tomorrow. Remember at least the pompous interiors from the 90s or the Romanian (Bulgarian?) Walls from the 70s.

Striving for the ideal creates anxiety

Chipping-free furniture, 90 degree walls, perfect joints - forget it. You are not going to the competition: “Perfectly aligned walls in Khrushchev”.

Make changes spontaneously

Passed by the window of an interior store and fell in love with a vase? Going crazy with Grandma's old chest? Add whatever you like to the interior. Don't think about trends, think about your own desires.

Remember that interiors are just things.

Dedicated to all who find fault with trifles and everywhere looking for flaws. The interior is things. Over time, they will become obsolete, dry out, break. Don't strive for the ideal. Make your renovations a pleasure.
