In light of recent events, we have begun to spend more time at home. And if before many of us only slept in the apartment, now it is possible to examine our home in the daylight. Surely, upon closer inspection, not everyone was satisfied with what they saw.
How to add originality and surprise guests - said the designer Olga Shapovalova.
5. Accent wall
You will definitely be able to attract attention by repainting one of the walls in a bright tone or contrasting with the general background of the room. Note that you can decorate an accent wall not only with the help of an unusual color scheme, drawings or prints. In its creation, it is also allowed to play with textures, for example, the use of brickwork or fabric.
4. Paintings
If repainting the walls is too radical for you, add accents with paintings. They do not necessarily have to belong to the category of museum treasures or contemporary art. You can start with graphics or a family photo archive.
This advice is easy to follow and requires little effort.
3. Lighting
Be sure to place multiple light sources. This will contribute to creating the most comfortable lighting scenario for you.
Light accents can be arranged in such a way as to completely transform the room - to highlight the necessary and hide the unnecessary in the shadow. Pay attention to light fixtures with soft diffused light, like at sunset.
2. Open window
It is unusual for many to see an open window without curtains or tulle. However, if the view permits, consider skipping curtains, or stick with curtains. You should also definitely think about this if you are the owner of an apartment with panoramic glazing or windows of an unusual shape.
1. Antiquities
This is not about the insanely expensive items from the antiques shop. Often it is enough to go to the dacha or look at your grandmother. Vintage armchairs, tables from the 60s, or a china service. All of these items can easily add personality to a modern interior. However, to avoid confusion, it's best not to overdo it with their numbers.
