Do you want to know how to choose the right combination, intelligently distribute the forces between different tones or, for example, breathe color into a neutral, calm room?

Designer Irina Tatarnikova tells how to win in a difficult game with paints and make the range of an apartment comfortable and interesting.

1. Let the colors interact

A simple pastel palette may seem boring to many. If you want to color your interior, don't be afraid to mix and match accents.

There are several universal schemes that will help you successfully combine colors:

  • Ice and Fire: Use warm tones as a basis, and add elements of cool tones for contrast.
  • Yin and Yang: For a more dynamic design, collide the base color with the opposite color. To help you - a special ruler-chart of shades.
  • Native to native: use different shades of the same color - it is interesting to set off the dominant tone, and a close, slightly more saturated shade can also be used.

2. Remember the general concept

Do not focus only on the "actual" colors. Remember that not all fashionable shades can successfully fit into your design and contribute to harmony in the space.

Try on color combinations to your feelings. Which is right for you, for example: pink-burgundy-purple, blue-green and ocher, or yellow-orange-brown, red-blue-white.

3. Do not be afraid of "juicy" colors

Many are afraid of bright colors, but often it is they that give the interior charisma and depth. It is especially interesting to fill small rooms with rich color.

But the shade is important - in the northern strip you need to choose complex colors, as it were, "grayish". Pure paints look childish, they work well where there is a lot of sun and light (southern edges). In the first case, it is desirable to use them as an accent.

In order to somewhat "restrain" the color and "pacify" a bright room, add a natural natural decor - elements from natural wood, other natural materials or living plants.

Don't be afraid of too strong a presence of color. Now it is a trend to paint rosettes, doors, moldings, and even the ceiling in one shade. With the right approach, it will not look clumsy - on the contrary, the room will acquire integrity and unity.

4. Accentuate both big and small

Color spots in the interior can be individual decor items, some furniture elements, architectural details, and, for example, one of the walls.

Accent walls are returning - they are decorated with various panels, geometric patterns, but their color is no less important, which can play the role of contrast.

5. If you want and prick - how to decide on a color

You can also make a mistake with your favorite color. If you like, for example, green in clothes, this does not mean at all that you can live with him in an apartment.

For centuries, mankind has accumulated information about color and we subconsciously read it!

Any color has many shades and each of them reminds us of something. Think about your feelings! This is where the "psychology" of color starts to work - how it affects us and what emotions it evokes. For example, red is love and passion, but at the same time, blood and danger. Red berries like strawberries are delicious, but elderberries are poisonous. And so with every color.

But there are shades and colors that almost all people understand and are always appropriate - these are all shades of brown (earth, coffee, chocolate, caramel, gingerbread, cinnamon, etc.). That is why “beige” interiors are so common.

If you are an ascetic in terms of the palette of colors, but you want to refresh your home, do not be afraid to use, for example, natural blue shades - they give a feeling of peace and relaxation.

A popular accent is yellow, it activates the brain and is good for libraries, workplaces, and wherever you need to think. However, many are afraid to dilute their "gray" interior, as it seems to them, with acidic lemon. In this case, use a mustard color or ocher: they are also quite saturated, but more restrained, "adult" and safe.

If you still don't trust pink, but want to bring, for example, more coziness and romance into your bedroom, then you can always stop at its "dusty" shades. They go well with gold, beige and silvery gray colors. So you are guaranteed to get a laconic, comfortable, but not boring room.

Ambiguous purple - a mixture of red and blue, always carries mystery and intrigue. Not very good for older people's rooms, as it gives gray reflexes on the skin. But just as good for libraries and workspaces.
