At the end of last summer, I was able to visit an exhibition of American garden tools, where I discovered a lot of interesting things. I want to talk about some of the tools presented there in this material.
1. Trolley for garden tools
Among American gardeners, trolleys are popular - organizers for transporting garden tools. The gadgets are quite roomy and have a lot of pockets for small things like scissors, ropes and gloves. The trolley has a place for a bucket for vegetable waste. A small ring is attached to the handle, which prevents shovels and hoes from falling out during transportation. You can store your gardening tools right in the cart by bringing them to the corner of the shed.
The disadvantage of such a cart is its width. The device is rather cumbersome for narrow paths between the beds. The problem is especially acute in the greenhouse and confined spaces. However, the cart can always be placed nearby and take the most necessary tool.
2. Weed lifting corkscrew
To remove weeds, foreign gardeners have grubbing machines. These devices are specially designed for pulling out difficult weeds. There are several basic designs. The simplest and most affordable is a long-handled corkscrew. The lifter is placed perpendicular to the ground, screwed into the middle of the weed and pulled vertically upwards. The whole plant, together with the root system, is in a corkscrew. Such a tool has shown particular effectiveness in the fight against dandelions.
Basically, such grubbing machines are not used for weeding the beds, but for removing single complex weeds on lawns, paths or in recreation areas.
3. Seed sowing ruler
American gardeners also use rulers to plant seeds. Only we make them with our own hands from cardboard or boards, and they buy them in the store. It's much easier and faster this way. Rulers are sold at any specialized retail outlet and are quite inexpensive. There are a lot of designs and types - you can choose for any seed.
Despite the fact that the purchased lines are quite practical and look good, I still find it more convenient to sow according to my shabby patterns. And it's not about the price at all - it just happened over the years.
4. Rope holder
Another interesting device, which for some reason is not popular with domestic gardeners, is a rope holder. This small bag allows you to always have the free end of the twine close at hand. The device is really very useful when tying plants. There is no need to bend over and unwind behind the rope, and the scissors are always in the pocket located on the bag.
There are two types of this holder. The first is a purse, and the second is a small metal can. Both devices are hung around the neck. Some products have a blade next to the rope hole that acts as a built-in scissor.
5. Planters of various designs
Another tool that caught my attention was the planter. A device that allows you to make depressions of the same shape for planting bulbs or seedlings. By its design, the product is similar to a shovel, but instead of a blade it has a cylindrical tip.
The disadvantage of such a planter is the inability to work with dry soil. The earth simply falls out of the cylinder, and the efficiency of work is reduced to almost zero.
