To prevent the large-scale spread of dandelions over the site, you need to remove all single plants as soon as they become visible among other vegetation. It is especially important to carry out this procedure within the garden. However, this is not as easy as it might seem at first glance. The thing is that the dandelion has a powerful root that goes into the ground to a depth of 30 cm. Therefore, attempts to pull out this weed by hand usually end with the separation of the green part from the root system. In this case, the plant quickly recovers and the procedure must be repeated again. Thus, the struggle can go on indefinitely.

To get rid of a dandelion completely, it must be removed along with the root. This can be done with a narrow garden trowel or a long chisel. This process is not easy and often leads to the fact that part of the root still remains in the ground. Labor costs in this case do not correspond to the result at all.

An easy way to pull out a dandelion

To pull out a dandelion along with the entire root system, you need a simple "corkscrew" tool. You can buy it at any gardening store at a price of 400 rubles or make it yourself from a thin metal rod.

It is best to remove dandelions after rain, when the soil is thoroughly wet. In this case, the chances of pulling out the entire root system are greatly increased.

If you get used to it, the process of removing one dandelion will take no more than 20 seconds. Screw the corkscrew at a right angle straight into the center of the plant until it stops (until the leaves begin to rise slightly). Next, we firmly rest our feet on the ground and slowly pull the tool vertically up. Movements should be smooth so that as few fragments of the root system as possible remain in the ground.

After the dandelion is uprooted, it must be immediately destroyed (burned or buried in earth in a compost pit). You cannot leave the plant on the ground. Otherwise, the seeds will quickly ripen and scatter around the site.

This simple method of uprooting dandelions keeps weeds at bay even in densely planted flower beds.
