Initially, it was not part of my plans to do experimental landings. It all started when I was presented with several potatoes of an unusual dark purple color. The variety was not exactly known, but according to a friend, it could be Vitelotte.
The seed was not cheap, so I decided to save it and plant it along with the rest of the potatoes. The planting and care process was no different from my usual varieties.
This week I dug up the remains of potatoes, among which was a new variety for me. The harvest was not enviable. The tubers looked like this.
After thorough washing, the potatoes turned a deep purple hue. For the rest, outwardly, it was no different from the varieties we are used to.
It is worth saying that colored potato varieties are considered much more useful than their classic counterparts. Therefore, their prices may exceed all reasonable and unreasonable limits.
In section, the tuber looked unusual and rather impressive. I think that dishes made from such potatoes could surprise guests for a long time.
To appreciate the taste, I did not bother with cooking and just boiled potatoes.
It tasted no different from the varieties that I plant in my home year after year. Closing your eyes, you will never think that you are eating something unusual.
As a result of the experiment, I came to the following conclusion. Since I was presented with several tubers, I will continue to plant this potato along with the rest of the varieties. But I will not buy seed separately.
