In this article, I want to talk about a simple, but very necessary top dressing, which you can easily prepare with your own hands. Its main ingredient is yeast, which can be purchased at any grocery store. To make the material easier to comprehend, I have divided the article into paragraphs corresponding to popular questions.

Is yeast a top dressing?

Yeasts are unicellular fungi that have lost their mycelial structure and switched to living in semi-liquid (liquid) substrates rich in organic matter. Their benefit lies in the fact that they stimulate the accelerated decomposition of organic substances, which are converted into a form that is more suitable for assimilation. In addition, yeast itself is a supplier of many essential substances and amino acids for plants.

Despite the existing differences, yeast solutions can rightfully be considered fertilizing. Their action is aimed at saturating plants with useful substances, so I propose to omit minor contradictions.

Why do cucumbers need yeast?

After entering the soil, the yeast stimulates the accelerated decomposition of organic substances into separate chemical elements and simple compounds. As a result of this, substances previously inaccessible to cucumbers begin to be easily absorbed and saturate the plant. Among the easily assimilated elements, phosphorus and nitrogen are especially abundant. The properties of yeast are comparable to natural EO preparations.

An important advantage is the presence of cytokinins and auxins - hormones that directly affect the future harvest. They stimulate cell division, phototropic growth, root geotropism and apical dominance.

In addition to all of the above, yeast contains a large amount of proteins (up to 65%) and amino acids (up to 10%).

Is yeast dangerous for cucumbers

In comparison with many other active ingredients (boric acid, ammonia, iodine, etc.), yeast is completely safe for humans and cultures. You can work with them without personal protective equipment (masks, gloves and glasses) in the immediate vicinity of the landings.

The main limitation in using yeast dressings is the shelf life. Fertilizers with this active ingredient are stored for no more than two days. However, even this is not recommended. It is better to use dressings immediately after preparation.

An important condition for the use of yeast fertilizing is the presence of a normal or large amount of organic matter in the soil.

Cooking yeast feeding

Before using any yeast-based top dressing, wood ash must be added to the soil. It will saturate the substrate with calcium and potassium, avoiding possible deficiency of these substances.

To prepare a yeast top dressing, 100 grams of fresh yeast must be dissolved in 1 liter of warm water. For use, the concentrate should be diluted with warm water in a ratio of 1 to 10. (A 1 to 9 ratio is also acceptable, which is easy to achieve with a 10 liter bucket.)

For each plant, 1 liter of ready-made dressing should be added. During fruiting, the procedure is carried out no more than once.

What result to expect

After yeast dressing, the cucumbers become larger and juicier. The general state of culture is improving markedly. The plant takes on a healthy appearance. The yield and quality of the fruit rises.
