I have several old apple trees in my garden, which were planted back in the days of the Soviet Union, a couple of years after receiving the plot. They continue to bear fruit, but are in a rather deplorable state. In an amicable way, they should have been cut down a long time ago and planted new trees, but I decided not to. Firstly, they give a harvest, and secondly, for me it is a memory.
I regularly performed sanitary and anti-aging pruning, but I did nothing global. I covered the damage on the bark with garden pitch, and pulled the splitting skeletal branches and supported them.
This year, it's time to finally decide what to do with the trees. Since I felt sorry for cutting them, and they could not remain in their former form, I decided to invite a pruner. I already had several contacts, so I didn't have to choose for a long time.
How much does it cost to invite a specialist
If you start looking for a specialist in pruning fruit trees, then very low prices immediately catch your eye. Depending on age and height, the price for pruning one apple tree starts at 200 rubles. However, this is the figure for work, excluding departure. In my case, it cost 5,000 rubles. And I must say that this is a low price tag for the Leningrad region. For many companies, the minimum order amount starts at 10,000 rubles. Therefore, the total cost of 6,000 rubles turned out to be very democratic.
What did I get for my money
Since I live at the dacha only during the season, it was important for me that the master arrived exactly at the appointed time. It's getting dark early now, so it was necessary to manage before 15 o'clock in order to have time to leave for the city before dark. The specialist did not disappoint and arrived on time.
The master immediately examined all the fruit trees, answered general questions and made recommendations. Next, we proceeded directly to the apple trees. The first tree, which was in the most deplorable state, was decided to be cut down at the root. I agreed.
After that, the master proceeded to prune unpromising skeletal branches on other apple trees. For this, he used a chainsaw with very fine teeth. The principle and technique were not new, but their quality was excellent. The cuts were smooth, without tears and delamination.
On the place of the cuts, garden var was immediately applied. Old and withered branches were cut to form living tissue.
So that during the pruning of branches, no tears remain on the bark, a circular incision was first made along it.
The trunk of one of the apple trees, which began to rot pretty much after the split, was sawn down to living tissues and cleaned from rot.
The same was done with the rotting branches. All dead tissue was cut and cleaned out. During the work, the specialist answered my questions and was not lazy to comment on what was happening.
The upper branches were cut while standing on a stepladder. The master did not lean any stairs against the tree, everything was done very carefully. One of my acquaintances already had a negative experience of such pruning, but in my case there were no complaints.
As a result, only the living and most promising parts of the apple trees were left.
I was pleased with the pruning. We walked all over the site and discussed the available fruit trees and some shrubs. It was interesting to know the opinion from the outside.
I recently got groups In contact with and Classmates, there I post announcements of new materials every day.
