Good afternoon, my reader. For tomatoes to grow well and bear fruit abundantly, they need feeding. You can use synthetic products, as well as mineral fertilizers - or you can use folk methods.

The first feeding is carried out two weeks after transplanting the seedlings into the ground, then it is repeated twice a month until the second half of July.

Iodine

This tool not only accelerates the growth and ripening of tomatoes, but also prevents the growth of phytophthora. You need to act like this:

  1. 4 drops of a medical solution of iodine (available at any pharmacy) are poured into a bucket of water.
  2. The solution is thoroughly mixed.
  3. The plantation is watered with the finished product. The bucket is enough for 5 tomato bushes.

Ash

Wood ash is extremely rich in potassium, and it is used as follows: 1 glass of sifted ash is shaken in a bucket of water and, until the ash has settled to the bottom, the beds are watered with the composition.

It is also used in the form of infusions for spraying. The composition is prepared as follows:

  1. 300 g of dry ash is poured into 3 liters of water.
  2. The mixture is boiled for half an hour.
  3. The boiled composition is allowed to cool and brew for 5 hours.
  4. Add clean water to a volume of 10 liters and add a few tablespoons of grated laundry soap to stick.
  5. The mixed solution is filtered and applied through a sprayer to tomato leaves.

REFERENCE: If there is no time to mess around with the infusion, you can simply sprinkle the ashes along the aisles and water them well.

Yeast

Yeast can be used in several ways:

  • a mixture of a package of instant yeast and 2 tablespoons of sugar are dissolved in a bucket of water;
  • Dissolve 100 g of fresh product in 10 l water.

Chicken droppings

Chicken manure is rich in nitrogen and phosphorus. Perhaps it is even too rich - and it cannot be used in its pure form. Top dressing based on it is done as follows:

  • the container is one third filled with droppings and filled with water to the brim. The mixture is kept in a sunny place for a week (alas, you will have to put up with the smell), then use it as a concentrate: 0.5 liters of infusion is diluted in 10 liters of water and the garden is watered - 1 bucket per 2 sq. m.
  • A mixture of 500 g of dry droppings is poured into 10 liters of water and kept for 3 days in a closed container, stirring once a day. The solution is diluted with water in a ratio of 1 to 20 and poured under the root of each bush, 1 liter.
IMPORTANT: When working with the litter infusion, make sure that it does not get on the leaves - there will be burns! Therefore, it is better to use not a watering can, but a ladle, carefully pouring the mixture under the lower leaves exactly into the hole.

Mullein

Mullein can be added to the soil in its pure form, but it is better to make an infusion:

  • the container is half filled with manure.
  • Add water to the top.
  • Close with a tight lid or stretch the film.
  • The mixture is left for 7-10 days in a warm place.
  • The finished infusion is stirred and used as a concentrate, diluted with water in a ratio of 1 to 10.

Consumption rate - 1 liter of diluted infusion for tomato root.

Nettle

Nettle is rich in iron, nitrogen and potassium. Its infusion is prepared as follows:

  • the container is filled with finely chopped nettles by two-thirds.
  • Pour in warm water, leaving 5-10 cm to the top.
  • Cover with a lid or foil and leave warm for a week.
  • The fermented infusion is diluted in a ratio of 1:10 and 1.5-2 liters of the mixture are poured under the root of each tomato bush. The rest of the nettle is sent to the compost heap.

By the same principle, infusions are prepared from any greenery, but nettle is the most effective in terms of nutrient content. However, the infusion of dandelions or alfalfa is not much worse in terms of nitrogen content.

IMPORTANT: Nettle infusion is very effective and cannot be used more than twice in a row!
