The condition of this mixer was not very good. But the brass body still has to last at least five years. Therefore, it was decided to bathe him in a bath with vinegar to remove "water stones" and soap stains. We carefully leaf through the gallery, there are photos "bathing the horse".
After bathing the mixer in vinegar for 20 minutes, he began to gently wipe the chrome parts. Wearing personal protective equipment, gloves and goggles against accidental splashes.
By wiping the surface with a dry cloth, he was "blinded" by chrome parts, it was possible to easily remove deposits after exposure to vinegar. There are micro scratches. But do not forget that the mixer was used and got free.
Now the task is to replace worn-out stuffing box gaskets. fasten the union of the nuts with a threaded lock (optional), lubricate the moving parts. An important detail: the thread under the union nuts is left-handed. That is, we twist it counterclockwise.
If it was possible to disassemble the mixer and not break it, then it can be easily assembled.
The main thing is not to overtighten, some details. You need to feel where you need to push harder, and where gently, without fanaticism, tighten.
As a result, we got a mixer after a major overhaul that can last another five years. And for this we needed- a donated mixer, gland gaskets, hexagons, an adjustable wrench, silicone grease and thread sealant (optional). Photo in the gallery.
