Good afternoon, my reader. Watering is one of the most important care steps. It is important not only to water the flowers more often in warm weather than in winter, but also to provide houseplants with the necessary amount of liquid throughout the year.

Spring watering

Spring is the time when crops come out of dormancy and the active growing season begins. In the spring, plants are transplanted, and it is during this period that it is necessary to provide flowers with a volume of liquid sufficient for active development.

The interval between irrigations depends on many factors:

  • air temperature;
  • air humidity;
  • heating;
  • air circulation.

The frequency of spring watering ranges from 3 to 7 days.

Once every 14 days, irrigation is combined with fertilization. Mineral fertilizers are recommended to be dissolved in warm water and applied at the root. Top dressing should be alternated with disease prevention, which is also carried out every 14 days in spring. Treatment of a plant from diseases can be both root and external.

Spraying is an important part of watering. But you should carefully study the information about each plant, as some species may suffer from the presence of liquid on the leaves.

Summer watering

The location of the plant is an important point on which the frequency of summer watering depends. Plants located on windowsills that face south are watered every 2-3 days. Those on the north side - once a week.

Spraying flowers, especially in hot weather, is carried out every day or every other day. This should be done early in the morning or in the evening, when the sun's rays cannot evaporate all the moisture.

TIP! Crops growing in pots with drainage holes receive the amount of liquid they need and are protected from root decay in case of overflow.

In the summer, it is important to preserve the spring amount of dressing combined with watering.

Autumn watering

From September, home flowers begin to reduce the amount of watering. This is due to the fact that the plants are preparing for the winter state of dormancy. The watering interval depends on the room temperature and soil moisture.

If the soil in the pot is dry and crumbles, the culture needs moisture. If only the top layer is dry, to a depth of 1-2 cm, watering should be done after a couple of days.

IMPORTANT! Flowers growing in ceramic containers require more liquid.

In autumn, plants are fed with phosphorus and potassium. It is also combined with watering for better assimilation of substances.

Winter irrigation

The belief that ornamental plants do not need watering in winter is a mistake. Moisture is vital for crops, even during dormant periods. Water the flowers only when the soil is dry.

Some species bloom precisely in winter, they are cared for, as in spring, which means that the frequency of watering does not decrease at all.

In winter, do not use automatic irrigation systems and water the plants through the sump, as this leads to the appearance of mold on the ground and crop diseases.

Irrigating indoor plants correctly is not tricky or overly complicated. The main thing is to be attentive to the state of flowers.
