An old welder taught me how to put circles on the grinder with a picture inward. Several reasons to do this

Since you are reading this article, then you have a "grinder", according to our angle grinder. Or at least worked it. Have you ever wondered which side to put the cutting or grinding wheel on? It turns out that many do not correctly put these consumables. Which leads to the biting and beating of the circle.

Please note that there is a metal ring on the discs on one side, where pictures and inscriptions are shown. Plant planted.

On the other hand, there is no such ring, on any disc.

How to clamp the circle correctly?

First factor

In front of your eyes is the bottom flange, on which the disc is installed and then clamped. So it has metal "pimples" on its surface.

If you put the disc with the picture inward, then the ring on it will be opposite these protrusions. And when clamped, they scream into a ring that will improve grip and protect the disc from turning when biting.

Second factor

It turns out that there is one more trick of the manufacturers of consumables and angle grinders, so that the disk lies flat.

When you clamp the disc with the second flange, there is a possibility that the disc itself may not be "molded" accurately, with bumps. But here, too, there is protection against this. The clamping nut on all grinders has a "thread play". This is done in order to smooth out the unevenness when clamping. But at the same time she held the disc tightly.

And finally, who will not argue with manufacturers? Why is the picture on the flap disc facing inward and the ring inward?

They probably know something. Is not it?

These tricks were taught to me by the old welded, at the beginning of my career.
