Imagine that you need to cut into a pipeline made of polypropylene pipes. Naturally, any decent home craftsman will use an ordinary soldering iron (welding machine) for this. But there are situations that it is not possible to apply it for three reasons:
- There is no electricity to connect the "iron".
- Water comes from the pipe in a small stream, which does not overlap at the inlet, which will not allow the pipes to be properly soldered.
- Lack of welding machine for PP pipes.
In order to show such a mechanical insert, I went to the dacha specially to demonstrate how it is done.
In plumbing stores, you can always buy such a set. Its price ranges from 150 to 200 rubles.
It is called a pipe saddle.
It is used for installation on metal pipes. But it turns out they can be used for polypropylene as well. A couple of times, I saw such inserts in apartments. And they quite confidently performed their functions.

Next, install the brass bushing that comes with the kit.
It will serve as a guide for the 7.5mm drill.
Install the drill and proceed to opening the hole.
Plastic is not a problem. Easy to drill.
It remains only to screw on the tap.
And check the connection under pressure. No where, nothing flows.
This connection is reliable, but it should be used as a last resort. Since it is economically impractical to buy a saddle for 150 rubles, knowing that a PP tee costs 7 rubles ...
